Responsibilities

Oversees the creation and nurturing of Business and Industry Leadership Teams (BILTs) consisting of key industry leaders and subject matter experts who inform curriculum development, reflecting current industry standards and skill requirements. Recruits members for participation on the BILTs to include representatives from diverse business sectors, industries, and professional organizations. Coordinates with employer partners, BILT members, and industry professionals to provide guest lectures, workshops, site tours, and presentations. Manages program advisory committee record keeping and the transition of existing advisory committees to the BILT framework, ensuring seamless integration and enhanced industry alignment across college programs. Responsible for the creation, support, coordination, and monitoring of experiential learning opportunities between Harper College and business and industry partners, including internships and externships. Cross promotes Harper College services to external constituencies.

 

Manages the full-cycle BILT process which includes working with division deans and faculty to identify potential BILT members and formally recruiting and training BILT members.


Provides leadership in the Strategic Alliances and Innovation division to deepen employer engagement and industry partnerships to bridge the gap between industry and academia.


Utilizes both innovative and traditional sourcing methods and executes innovative recruiting strategies to develop a diverse pool of qualified BILT members.
Works with Academic Deans, industry partners, and faculty to create centralized processes and procedures for experiential learning models including internships and externships.


Scales the BILT initiative across various academic programs at the College, ensuring that each program's unique needs are addressed through tailored industry partnerships; fosters collaboration with various academic departments to implement BILTs.


Fosters robust relationships with business leaders by developing a deep understanding of Harper’s academic programs, aligning them to the appropriate BILT, and identifying experiential learning opportunities that align with Harper's programming. 


Creates new opportunities for experiential learning by networking with BILT members.


Provides guidance for employers on experiential learning policies and procedures.


Collaborates with divisional marketing specialist to create marketing pieces and website to promote experiential learning opportunities and collect data, and shares opportunities with the Job Placement Resource Center.


Plans, schedules, and coordinates BILT meetings and events, maintains documentation of all BILT sessions, and facilitates BILT Orientation sessions. 


Implements innovative solutions for systems improvement, digital transformation, and full utilization of technology tools, including project management tools and a robust customer relationship management (CRM) system to collect shared partner contact data, document outreach efforts, schedule event email campaigns, and streamline communications.


Manages advisory committee recordkeeping duties including coordinating meetings with the help of Division staff and Dean’s input, maintaining lists of current members across the College, and maintaining minutes for all programs across the College.


Creates detailed reports to monitor and analyze the transition from advisory committees to BILTs.


Conducts regular assessments to ensure adherence to the BILT structure and its foundational principles using Harper’s BILT Implementation Guide and Framework.


Performs other duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in Business Administration, Workforce Development, Strategic Communications, or related field preferred.


Experience:  Minimum of three years of experience in workforce development, business engagement, or industry partnership coordination in a higher education environment. Proven experience in implementing innovative solutions for systems improvement and digital transformation. Experience leveraging sourcing channels, including social media, LinkedIn, and professional organizations, to recruit BILT members and engage industry partners effectively. Strong relationship-building experience with stellar interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders, including industry leaders, consultants, faculty, staff, and administrators. Experience prioritizing workload and managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Proficiency in data collection and analysis and using data to inform decision-making. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and customer relationship management systems.
