Description
ActioNet has an immediate opportunity for a Systems Administrator requiring a Public Trust. The position is 100% remote. Preference will be given to candidates within a drivable distance to Newport, OR and Silver Springs, MD.
The Systems Administrator will manage Windows and enterprise services across hybrid environments including Azure, Dell HCI, and shipboard systems. This role ensures reliable identity management, patching, backup/DR, and interoperability between Windows and Linux platforms.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server/Windows 11 VMs on Azure and HCI
- Operate Windows services supporting ship operations and shared storage workflows
- Implement and test backup/restore and disaster recovery procedures
- Automate Windows configuration and patching using PowerShell/DSC/Intune
- Manage identity and access (AAD/ADDS) aligned with NOAA policy
- Provide Tier 2 support for Windows-hosted operational apps
- Document system configurations and troubleshooting playbooks
- Participate in post-cruise reviews and update runbooks quarterly
Basic Qualifications (Required):
- 5 years administering Windows in production/hybrid environments
- Strong skills in AD/AAD, GPO, RBAC, patch orchestration, and certificate management
- Proficient in PowerShell and monitoring tools (Azure Monitor/Log Analytics)
- Experience with virtualization on Azure Stack HCI/Hyper-V
- Clear communication and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
- CompTIA Security+
- VMware VCP or Azure Stack HCI Administrator
- ITIL Foundation
