The Inventory Coordinator is responsible for overseeing, monitoring, and optimizing all inventory-related activities within the manufacturing facility. This role ensures the accuracy, availability, and flow of raw materials, parts, and finished goods to support continuous production, minimize downtime, and maintain cost efficiency.
Essential Functions
- Maintain accurate inventory counts through routine cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation against ERP/MRP systems.
- Monitor stock levels of raw materials, WIP (work in progress), and finished goods to ensure adequate supply while minimizing excess.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate with production teams to anticipate material requirements and adjust inventory levels accordingly.
- Oversee receipt, labeling, storage, and distribution of materials to appropriate production zones.
- Ensure timely kitting and staging of parts for manufacturing work orders.
- Track and document material movement between warehouses, production areas, and external facilities.
- Enter, update, and verify inventory transactions in ERP/MRP software (e.g., Epicor).
- Work closely with purchasing to manage reorder points, lead times, and supplier performance.
- Partner with production supervisors and leads to ensure material availability aligns with production schedules.
- Communicate shortages, delays, or material quality concerns management and resolve promptly.
Qualifications
- High school diploma with 2-4 years of experience in inventory control, materials coordination, or warehouse operations within a manufacturing environment.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of inventory management practices, cycle counting, and material flow.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (Epicor, SAP, Oracle, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, and just-in-time (JIT) inventory concepts.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to resolve discrepancies quickly.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with changing priorities.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate material handling equipment (forklift certification preferred).
