Job Summary
· Perform a wide variety of technical duties associated primarily with product engineering and new product development, compliance with technical specifications, and related test requirements for military and commercial products. Additional work includes creation of technical data submittals to customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Review customer technical requirements and industry standards and specifications. Review new product and purchase requisitions to identify components, equipment, and materials required for specified pump builds and help ensure compliance with new product and existing product contract technical requirements.
· Provide pump design selections and identify hydraulic design changes required to ensure compliance.
· Create drawings, technical data sheets and deliverables required for contract and new product development plans.
· Support material selection and oversee Bill of Materials to ensure cost-effective and specification-compliant designs.
· Provide direct support to manufacturing on product testing and engineering modifications required to comply with purchase orders. Advise manufacturing of any discrepancies between specifications and manufacturing practices. Respond in a timely fashion to questions raised by other sales, engineering, quality, and operations personnel.
· Ensure designs and documentation comply with applicable standards MIL-SPECs, ANSI, ASME, etc.
· Manage and execute all new product development projects.
· Actively participate in engineering, sales, and operations continuous improvement initiatives.
· Create and administer all internal company technical standards, documents, and service manuals and maintain disciplined configuration control of all product designs and documentation.
· Develop very strong proficiency in ERP system.
· Train, teach, and mentor engineering staff whether direct reports or not.
· Work with engineering department to ensure new and modified designs are consistent with BP best technical practice and customer specifications. Recommend cost and producibility improvements.
· Utilize project management tools to track engineering deliverables and timelines.
· Collaborate with procurement, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure smooth product development and delivery.
· Lead and oversee pump testing procedures including hydrostatic, performance, and vibration testing to ensure compliance with industry and customer requirements.
Management/Supervisory Responsibilities
· Direct personnel reports.
Requirements
Education/Experience
· 4 yr. bachelor’s degree in mechanical/industrial technology or related engineering discipline.
· Prefer > 10 years related experience.
· Experience in manufacturing environment.
· General mechanical acumen and experience, hardware oriented.
· Strong understanding of fluid mechanics and centrifugal pump or compressor experience.
· Strong knowledge of testing procedures and results reporting
