Position Summary:

The Accounts Receivable Credit Technician supports the company’s cash flow by accurately applying incoming payments, resolving deductions and discrepancies, and assisting with the maintenance of customer account records. This role focuses on timely and accurate transaction processing, monitoring assigned accounts for past-due balances, and following established procedures for payment follow-up. The technician works closely with internal teams and customers to address routine billing or payment issues, ensuring clear documentation and efficient resolution. By keeping accounts current and processes accurate, the Accounts Receivable Credit Technician contributes to smooth operations and effective financial management.

Essential Functions:

  • Accurately apply incoming customer payments to accounts in a timely manner, ensuring all transactions are matched to the correct invoices and accounts.
  • Research and resolve payment discrepancies, deductions, and short payments, coordinating with customers and internal teams as needed.
  • Monitor assigned customer accounts for past-due balances and follow established procedures for reminder calls, emails, and payment follow-up.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining A/R aging reports, ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
  • Collaborate with sales, customer service, and other departments to resolve routine billing or payment issues.
  • Support month-end close activities by ensuring payments and adjustments are processed before deadlines.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in cash application, deduction handling, and other A/R processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic technology skills, including proficiency in data entry, spreadsheets, and foundational Microsoft Excel functions (e.g., formulas, formatting).
  • Ability to learn and follow established processes with guidance, showing curiosity and initiative to expand knowledge.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately process transactions and meet deadlines.
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills for both internal and external interactions.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve routine payment and account issues.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to manage assigned tasks in a structured work environment.
  • Proficient use of office equipment including, but not limited to, a personal computer, phone, fax machine, copy machine, and scanner.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, use hands to operate computer, phone, and talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 1–2 years of experience in accounts receivable, cash application, or other related accounting functions preferred.
  • ERP system experience (e.g., SAP) is a plus.
  • Experience in a corporate or office environment preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • The employee will experience normal working conditions where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, and other related elements.
