The ideal candidate will be located within a commutable distance to Cresco, PA. 
Work Schedule: 8:30am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.

The Senior Buyer/Planner plans, controls, and procures goods to support the continuous flow and delivery of products at the highest quality and lowest total cost. This position works with the global sourcing, production, and other key stakeholders to develop and execute business strategies impacting new product launches, supply chain consolidation, cost reduction, quality improvement as well as supplier assessment and associated scorecard activities.

Essential job functions and responsibilities:

  • Manage and direct buying/planning activities through being the primary contact with suppliers, ensuring target level of product availability and customer service are met. Utilize MRP and/or SIC to order material, set stocking levels and achieve target inventory turns. Expedite when necessary. Communicate product availability issues within Weiler Corporation.
  • Communicate change in demand to supplier. Monitor supplier lead-times and on-time performance. Make adjustments as necessary. Monitor supplier performance on cost, quality and delivery and communicate to supplier. Seek corrective action. Work with Strategic Sourcing and the supplier to identify improvement opportunities in cost, packaging, quality and lead-time reduction.
  • Develop and manage a lean supply base through VMI, Pull/Kanban systems, SMED, 5S, etc.
  • Maintain all system Planning Data for assigned items. Regularly review planning data and SIC levels, making necessary adjustments
  • Work closely with Sourcing; manage new product introductions, supplier changes. Provide drawing revisions to suppliers. Perform supplier Quality audits, when necessary. Work with outside service suppliers providing value add on purchased or manufactured items.
  • Track incoming shipments and measure on-time performance by supply point.
  • Monitor inventory vs targets, turns, and customer service levels.
  • Mentor junior Buyer-Planners.
  • Complete or help coordinate other related/supporting projects as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 5+ years of experience in Materials Management in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Certification such as CPIM or CPM a plus.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts (kanban, “pull”, etc.) preferred.
  • Good organizational, analytical problem solving and communication skills required. Ability to interact with a wide variety of people.
  • Must be responsible and self-motivated.
  • Willing to work extra hours as project or production needs dictate.
