Position: Director of Assisted Living
Location: The Kensington Sierra Madre
Schedule: Full-Time, Tuesday–Saturday (including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call)
Salary Range: $90,000–$105,000 annually, based on experience + Annual Bonus Potential

Summary:

The Director of Assisted Living is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Assisted Living neighborhood, including team member selection, training, scheduling, and performance management. This role ensures residents receive high-quality care through the development and execution of Individual Service Plans, collaboration with families, and partnership with the life enrichment team. The Director also manages staffing, compliance, financial performance, and overall resident satisfaction.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct timely resident evaluations and develop Individual Service Plans (ISPs). Coordinate with all departments to ensure resident needs are met (e.g., dietary, transportation, medical).

  • Lead resident and family care meetings, maintaining strong communication and relationships.

  • Partner with the Life Enrichment team to create and implement meaningful activities for residents.

  • Ensure family communication, including pre-move-in, 14-day check-ins, and ongoing updates.

  • Address and resolve resident care issues or family concerns promptly.

  • Support sales efforts by participating in tours, outreach events, and prospective resident meetings.

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate team members. Ensure new hire orientation and ongoing training are completed per company and regulatory requirements.

  • Develop, post, and manage team schedules based on resident acuity and enrichment needs. Monitor absenteeism and staffing levels.

  • Monitor department budget, staffing, and supply costs to meet financial goals.

  • Oversee documentation of daily care and resident participation in life enrichment programs.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance and stay current on federal, state, and local healthcare requirements.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities and industry-related workshops/seminars.


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Solid organizational, time management, and decision-making skills.

  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations relevant to assisted living operations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Property Management Systems.

  • Ability to manage budgets and staffing resources effectively.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years in a leadership role within senior living or healthcare (Assisted Living preferred).

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.

  • Strong background in team management, resident care planning, and family communication.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call responsibilities.

  • Must pass TB test and criminal background check per California state requirements.

  • Professional, well-groomed appearance and adherence to dress code.

  • Ability to handle stressful situations with patience and positivity.
