Proposal Manager
Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel for industry events, customer sites, and team meetings
Metis is seeking an experienced Proposal Manager with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience to lead our proposal development efforts for government contracts, to include Department of Defense (DoD), NASA, and other government and commercial agencies. The ideal candidate will excel in managing complex proposals, coordinating technical solutions, and ensuring high-quality submissions in a remote work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the end-to-end proposal development process for DoD, NASA, and other government/commercial contracts, including planning, content creation, and submission.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, finance) to develop technical solutions that meet customer requirements.
Ensure proposals are compliant with solicitation requirements and federal regulations (e.g., FAR/DFARS).
Coordinate and lead proposal reviews, ensuring clarity, quality, and alignment with Metis' standards.
Develop and manage proposal schedules, budgets, and resources to meet deadlines.
Contribute technical input during proposal development, leveraging engineering inputs to articulate solutions effectively.
Represent Metis at industry events and customer meetings to gather insights and build relationships.
Track proposal metrics and provide status updates to leadership.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related field; advanced degree (e.g., Master’s or MBA) preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in proposal management for government contracts, with a focus on DoD and NASA.
Demonstrated experience managing proposals valued at $50M or more, including technical solution development.
Business Development background, ideally in aviation or aerospace, with the ability to contribute to technical proposal content.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex technical ideas clearly.
Proficiency in proposal tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, or similar platforms).
Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining effective virtual collaboration.
Willingness to travel as needed (up to 25%) to industry events, customer sites, or Metis offices.
U.S. citizenship required; eligibility for security clearance (Secret or higher) is a plus.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Certification in proposal management (e.g., APMP Foundation or Practitioner).
Experience with aviation-specific domains, such as unmanned aerial systems (UAS), aircraft design, or avionics.
Familiarity with agile methodologies for proposal development.
Knowledge of CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce or GovWin) for opportunity tracking.
