POSITION SUMMARY: 

The primary purpose of this position is to protect our network, systems, and data from digital attacks.  This position will utilize technology, people, and processes to monitor the threat landscape; analyze alerts and respond to information security events and incidents; and effectively work as a member of the cyber security team sharing knowledge and workload.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SUPPORTING DUTIES:

  • Assist in the implementation of innovative processes, emerging developments, and advanced methodologies in cyber security design, monitoring, and maintenance
  • Provide input to secure cloud and on-premises environments; identify security risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Stay informed of emerging technologies related to securing systems
  • Evaluate and assess vulnerabilities of various devices, including routers, switches, server hardware, operating system software, workstations, laptops, mobile devices, network interface cards, printers, etc.
  • Respond and triage system alerts and escalate when warranted as part of incident response
  • Work with other IT divisions to offer input and support for the secure configuration of cloud and IT systems, facilitating monitoring and analysis of cyber security alerts
  • Review, update, and create documentation (including diagrams, policies, procedures, and standards) related to network, system, and data security as part of compliance requirements and the Information Security Program

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, IT security, engineering, data science, information technology, or a related field
    • Or at least 7 years of experience in information security and technology
  • Valid certification related to Information Security, e.g., CISSP, Security +, CISA, CISM, CEH, etc.
    • Or at least 7 years of experience in information security and technology

Required Experience:

  • Securing enterprise network environments work experience: minimum 2 years
  • Experience with Azure and securing Azure Virtual Desktop environments
  • Experience in utilizing vulnerability scanning tools and forensic scanning tools
  • Experience with SIEM technology and coordinating with managed security vendors

Required Knowledge:

  • Practical knowledge of the following:
    • Information security principles, concepts and techniques
    • Cyber security threat modeling and risk management frameworks
    • Firewalls and VPNs
    • Microsoft security and endpoint protection tools
  • Working knowledge of technology
  • Understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives

  • In-depth, hands-on knowledge and experience with enterprise and desktop applications
  • Strong technical skills in network, system, and application security relevant to incident detection and response

  • Demonstrates strong reporting skills by selecting the most effective method (and sources of reporting) for each situation
  • Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure during security incidents
  • Ability to learn and implement new techniques and technologies
  • Must be able to take direction, show initiative and be self-motivate
