Position Summary
The Member Services Representative is an integral part of the Membership Division, responsible for delivering a gold-standard level of service to members and prospective members. This position supports membership recruitment, retention, and engagement activities, manages member records, and ensures accurate and timely service across a wide range of touchpoints. The role also plays a key part in membership operations at the Academy’s Annual Meeting, our most significant recruitment initiative.
Role and Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for membership inquiries, providing accurate and timely information.
- Support the execution of membership engagement plans, including operational aspects of recruitment and retention campaigns.
- Maintain the integrity of member data within the Personify membership database.
- Audit and update Membership & Alliances website content, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
- Process membership applications, dues, reclassifications, and refunds in collaboration with Finance.
- Resolve member concerns with professionalism, escalating issues as needed.
- Support departmental projects, including mailing list rental services and SOP documentation.
- Participate in Annual Meeting planning, ensuring Member Services has the tools needed to serve members and prospects.
- Contribute to the Future Residents of Ophthalmology program, supporting the Academy’s goal of early member engagement.
Qualifications, Skills, and Education Requirements
- 3 years of office experience and 3 years of customer service experience required.
- 2+ years’ experience with Personify or similar CRM software.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, data entry, report writing).
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with a professional demeanor.
- Ability to problem solve, exercise judgment under pressure, and work independently.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- 2 years of college coursework preferred; Spanish language skills desirable.
Salary: $80,896.
