The HR Generalist II at Spartan Chassis is responsible for providing core HR services to employees in support of our mission. This is a critical role in ensuring a positive employee experience for the entire employee lifecycle. The HR Generalist II supports onboarding, offboarding, retention, HR program administration, change management, employee relations, talent management, coaching, and policy interpretation and application.
Core Responsibilities
1. Support Manufacturing Workforce and Frontline Leadership
- Provide coaching and guidance to supervisors on performance, employee relations, and staffing needs
- Partner with business leaders & Talent Acquisition to evaluate staffing requirements and assist with recruiting efforts
- Lead retention efforts through proactive engagement and issue resolution
2. Employee Experience and Engagement
- As a leader on the Employee Activity Committee, help design and execute employee activity programs (e.g., bi-weekly events, recognition activities)
- Coordinate onboarding, orientation, and other employee engagement activities
- Promote a positive workplace culture through consistent presence on the production floor
3. Partner with Employee Health & Safety (EHS)
- Collaborate with EHS leaders on the Safety Incentive Program and other safety initiatives
- Reinforce a safe and compliant work environment
4. HR Program Delivery and Compliance
- Administer core HR programs and processes (performance management, training, investigations, corrective actions)
- Stay current on employment law and company policy, ensuring consistent application
- Prepare basic reports and metrics to support decision-making
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, across all levels of the organization
- Trustworthy with highly confidential information
- Ability to quickly learn HRIS and talent management systems
- Strong relationship-building and coaching skills
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and innovative team player
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Minimum four (4) years of Human Resources experience
- Manufacturing experience preferred
- PHR certification preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
