Compensation

$26 per hour

Job Summary

The Safety Intern will support the company’s commitment to maintaining safe work environments by gaining practical experience in safety management across job sites. The intern will collaborate with safety professionals to learn and contribute to the promotion and enforcement of safety standards and practices.       

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist safety managers in conducting regular job site walk-throughs and inspections.
  • Support the implementation and enforcement of safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in project safety meetings and safety training sessions.
  • Help identify potential hazards and document findings for corrective action.
  • Aid in investigating accidents and incidents by gathering information and supporting root cause analysis.
  • Assist with safety and health inspections, coordinating follow-up actions and compliance reporting.
  • Support monitoring the safety performance of subcontractors and employees.
  • Promote a positive safety culture by communicating best practices and assisting with safety awareness initiatives.

Education and Work Experience

  • Must be actively working towards a college degree.

Skills

  • Ability to multitask efficiently and be flexible.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Basic math skills with the ability to calculate and analyze data.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Must have the ability to work well with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong tendency to take initiative.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to utilize hands and fingers in order to type and carry reports should the need require.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands throughout the workday should the need arise.
  • Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch should the need arise.
  • Ability to sit for a long period of time, possibly more than 90% of the workday.
  • Ability to see clearly or with assistance via necessary correction.
