Job Summary
The Receptionist is the key representative, face of the front office and understands the pulse of activities and programs. The Receptionist works alongside the High School Senior Executive Assistant and other staff members to support the vision and mission of the school along with items related to the office. Utmost, the Receptionist must consider him/herself not simply a business professional but more importantly a missionary on the field to share the Gospel to who God has entrusted as part of the VCS Ministry.
Requirements
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and maintain responsibility for the daily operations of the reception area.
- Manage access to the school via the front door by confirming a visitor's business prior to granting entry.
- Greet and check-in all guests using Verkada.
- Monitor and rectify attendance records for all High School students on an hourly basis.
- Contact parents when a student needs to be sent home due to illness or other concerns.
- Dispense medication as needed and accurately document in RenWeb.
- Collaborate with security to ensure student safety in areas such as attendance, behavior, and parking.
- Serve as a member of the Threat Assessment Group and manage Crisis Go during emergency events.
- Learn and utilize RenWeb for managing student and family data, attendance, and other assigned functions.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all student, faculty, and staff information.
- Respond to all correspondence, including emails, promptly and professionally.
- Support the broader Valley Christian School (VCS) program by attending extracurricular events as assigned by the High School Principal or Senior Executive Assistant.
- Represent VCS and its ministry with grace and professionalism in interactions with parents and the community.
- Demonstrate flexibility, respect, and humility, recognizing the High School Principal as the final authority on school policy and program decisions.
- Exhibit strong teamwork, especially as a visible representative of the ministry.
- Adheres to Valley Christian policies, procedures/processes, Statement of Faith, Valley Way and other school guidelines.
- Adhere to and uphold Valley Christian's standards, policies, and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a consistent Christian testimony.
- Supports and upholds Valley Christian's Mission & Beliefs which can be found at http://valIeychristianaz.org/ about/philosophy/
- Actively attends and financially supports a local church aligned with Valley Christian's values.
- Holds and maintains a valid Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Possesses a valid Arizona driver's license.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Communicates effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with students, parents, staff, and visitors.
- Able to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations.
- Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to change.
- Manages multiple priorities and deadlines under pressure with a customer-service mindset.
- Maintains punctuality and consistent attendance.
- Exhibits strong interpersonal, leadership, and team-building skills.
- Provides excellent customer service and represents the ministry professionally.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma.
- Prior experience in a front office or customer service setting.
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
- Experience in a school setting.
- RenWeb Experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Use a computer (visual and keyboarding) for long periods of time.
- Able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) 50% of the time.
- Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- At times requires stooping, bending, turning, pushing, pulling, reaching, and climbing stairs (2-story).
- Use of hands, fingers, and arms to reach, grip, and maneuver objects.
- Must be able to respond quickly to sounds (fire/security alarms).
- Work in a noisy and crowded school environment.
- Frequent walking throughout the campus.
- Must be able to travel between campuses as needed.
