About Sunrise

The Sunrise Group is transforming sleep care with a clear mission: making good sleep accessible to all. Founded in 2015, we've grown from a small team developing innovative home sleep tests into pioneers of end-to-end sleep solutions.

Our company operates through two complementary approaches: we create innovative sleep diagnostics and treatments, while our digital sleep clinic, Dreem Health, connects patients directly with sleep specialists through telehealth. This eliminates the typical barriers patients face — long wait times, inconvenient overnight lab testing, and fragmented care.

Together, we're tackling one of healthcare's biggest unmet needs — while over 1 billion people worldwide struggle with sleep disorders, only 5% currently receive proper treatment. Our approach makes quality sleep care accessible, efficient, and effective. Backed by Amazon's Alexa Fund and $35M in funding, we're just getting started.

As a Python Back-end Developer, you will play a key role in scaling our digital sleep clinic. You will be responsible for building and improving back-end systems that are robust, secure, and compliant with healthcare standards. Working closely with product managers, designers, and other developers, you will help us deliver high-quality healthcare solutions that have a real impact on patients’ and providers’ lives.

Our Back-end Tech Stack: Python, Django, Celery, PostgreSQL, Google Cloud Platform (mainly Cloud Run), Docker, Terraform, Datadog, Sentry, GitHub. Our team is also familiar with TypeScript, Node.js.

Our Tech Challenges:

  • Supporting our rapid growth by automating recurring workflows for the medical, billing, sales teams, and delivering new features for patients and providers.
  • Expanding and maintaining our internal platform for patient management, monitoring, and telehealth services (videoconferencing, secure messaging).
  • Integrating with external partner APIs while managing complex data synchronization.
  • Safeguarding the security and integrity of sensitive health data, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance (HIPAA, GDPR).
  • Continuously enhancing the performance, reliability, and maintainability of our back-end systems.

We are a team of 10 developers, juniors and seniors, working remotely across France and Belgium. We value trust, autonomy, and collaboration, and we believe in maintaining a healthy balance between delivering impact and enjoying our work.

Key responsibilities

  • Backend Development: Work closely with the team to design, build, and maintain reliable backend services using Python, Django, and related technologies.
  • API Development: Create and evolve RESTful APIs to power our front-end and mobile applications and support integrations with third-party partners.
  • Performance & Optimization: Monitor, identify, and resolve bottlenecks to ensure fast, efficient, and scalable applications that deliver a smooth user experience.
  • Architecture & Design: Contribute to the technical architecture of our platform, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and robustness as the product evolves.
