THE OPPORTUNITY
The Shipping & Receiving Coordinator has the responsibility for managing all inbound and outbound shipments, packaging material inventory, packaging of product to be shipped, palletizing larger orders, and verifying and de-trashing incoming deliveries.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Coordinate incoming shipments and match against purchase and sales orders.
- Perform ERP system transactions for received items and generate daily receiving reports (e.g., items received, discrepancies).
- Audit all inbound documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Ensure materials are labeled and marked appropriately with part number, quantity, and date received.
- Ship customer orders accurately and on time, including both domestic and international freight.
- Prepare required shipping documentation (Bills of Lading, Packing Slips, Commercial Invoices, etc.).
- Use carrier portals (FedEx, UPS, DHL, USPS) to generate labels and track deliveries.
- Sort, palletize, and package outgoing shipments; wrap, strap, photograph, and document large orders.
- Coordinate customer pickups and schedule LTL/FTL shipments with freight carriers and brokers.
- Process small parcel shipments and manage ad hoc/manual invoice requests.
- Perform all material transactions in the ERP system accurately and in real-time.
- Maintain an organized inventory and update material on-hand records regularly.
- Assist in the assignment and maintenance of tariff classifications for all items.
- Load and unload trucks using a forklift or pallet jack (forklift certification preferred).
- Ensure all inventory and material handling complies with internal procedures and safety requirements.
- Interface with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality Control, and other internal teams to ensure complete and accurate shipment documentation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with 5S and safety guidelines.
- Provide backup logistics support across other Galvion sites as needed.
- Continuously seek cost-effective freight solutions by comparing carriers and shipping methods.
- Assist or lead others in logistics functions as necessary; perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
- 5 years of domestic and international shipping experience.
- Knowledgeable in FTL, LTL, small package, air and ocean freight.
- Previous experience dealing with freight carriers, freigh forwarders, and brokers.
- Dangerous Goods/Hazmat certification preferred.
- Fork lift operator license preferred; will provide training.
- Computer literate, proficiency with Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, specifically).
- Position requires a person who is meticulous and quality conscious; motivated and creative problem solver.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Fast learner with excellent time management skills.
- Possess creative problem solving skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Must be adaptable to rapidly shifting priorities and testing schedules.
- Ability to work with minimum of supervision, including prioritizing of work.
- Work overtime as required.
