Plant Electrician – Red Hills Power Plant – Ackerman, MS
Summary of Position Duties:
Plant Red Hills consists of 2 coal fired boilers producing steam for 1 steam turbine. This position is responsible for routine and corrective maintenance and also performs technical and analytical services essential to the control system and associated equipment (electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic) within the plant while supporting Operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting the plant control and electrical systems. These systems include digital control systems, circuits, power circuits, station service equipment, and control devices. Employee will participate in the plant maintenance program and document plant maintenance records in a computer-based work order system, MAXIMO.
Job Experience and Education:
- 2-Year College/Technical degree, military training or apprenticeship program is preferred.
- Minimum of two years experience in electrical and/or electronic, pneumatic, and instrumentation and controls required.
- Experience with digital control systems, PLCs, ABB Control Systems, CEMS and Siemens Control System preferred.
- Experience in a coal fired power plant operations is preferred.
- Must be able to work with limited supervision.
- Must Successfully pass POSS and MASS testing- Required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be able to handle complex troubleshooting, high pressure situations and support operations in a changing work environment.
- Candidate must exemplify Our Values and be a team player with a positive attitude towards work.
- Detailed knowledge of plant controls and data acquisition systems desired.
- Must have good problem solving and analytical skills necessary to determine current / future operating conditions and trending for optimized plant performance.
- Must have superior interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, self-directed and an effective team member.
- Must be able to handle complex, pressure situations and be adaptable to a changing work environment. Must be able to support a 24/7 schedule, including holiday and back shift work when necessary.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of coal-fired power plant systems (turbine, generator, feedwater, etc.) desired.
