Sourcing Specialist Intern - Defense Electronics

Position Overview: As a Sourcing Specialist Intern, you will be an integral part of the supply chain and procurement team, focusing on sourcing components and materials critical to the development of our defense electronics products. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sourcing, supplier management, and procurement processes within a highly regulated and specialized industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supplier Research: Conduct research to identify potential suppliers of electronic components and materials that meet the technical and quality requirements for defense applications.
- Vendor Evaluation: Assist in evaluating potential suppliers based on criteria such as quality, cost, delivery performance, and compliance with defense industry standards.
- RFQ Preparation: Support the preparation and issuance of Requests for Quotation (RFQ) to selected suppliers, ensuring clarity of specifications and expectations.
- Supplier Communication: Communicate with suppliers to gather necessary information, clarify technical requirements, and negotiate terms under the guidance of senior sourcing specialists.
- Data Management: Maintain accurate records of sourcing activities, including supplier profiles, quotes, purchase orders, and delivery schedules.
- Cost Analysis: Assist in analyzing supplier quotes and proposals to identify cost-saving opportunities and support the decision-making process.
- Compliance Support: Ensure that all sourcing activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and defense contracting requirements.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Support the development and maintenance of strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration and long-term partnerships.
- Market Trends: Monitor market trends, industry developments, and pricing fluctuations to provide insights that can impact sourcing strategies.
- Process Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of sourcing processes by identifying inefficiencies and suggesting enhancements.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess data and make informed decisions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
- Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in documentation and data management.
- Technical Aptitude: Basic understanding of electronics or a willingness to learn about electronic components and their applications.
- Interest in Defense Industry: A strong interest in sourcing within the defense electronics industry and a commitment to contributing to the company’s mission.
- Proficiency in Tools: Familiarity with procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) is preferred.
