About the Role:
As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Sullivan County Community Hospital (SCCH), you will play a vital role in delivering compassionate and high-quality care to our patients. Your primary focus will be to support nursing staff by assisting patients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort, safety, and dignity throughout their stay. You will be responsible for monitoring patients' conditions and reporting any changes to the nursing team, contributing to effective and timely medical interventions. Minimum Qualifications:
- Current and valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification recognized by the state.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of patient care and safety procedures.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening as required by SCCH.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a hospital or long-term care setting.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure, accurately and timely.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, fostering a positive and reassuring environment.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of patient rooms and equipment, adhering to infection control protocols.
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff regarding patient status, changes, and any concerns observed during care.
Skills:
The required skills such as patient care techniques, vital sign monitoring, and effective communication are essential for providing daily hands-on support to patients and ensuring their well-being. Strong interpersonal skills enable CNAs to build trust and rapport with patients, which is crucial for emotional support and cooperation during care activities.
