The Radiology Education Coordinator performs a wide variety of services as a member of the Imaging Team. Their responsibilities include patient care, technical assistance, visitor advocacy and assisting in achieving the overall work efficiencies within the Radiology Technical work areas. The Radiology Education Coordinator works with the Imaging Technical Coordinators and Analytics Project Manager to drive Radiology Department quality metrics.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provides direct patient care and completes other duties such as equipment evaluations as assigned by Modality Manager or Director and Physicists.
- Works with vendors in the coordination of applications and equipment training and competency. Communicates updates and changes made to imaging exams and protocols.
- Identifies learning needs of Radiology care staff at UCMC and UCMS off-Sites.
- Responsible for coordinating education for clinical practices and practical application for department staff.
- Responsible for developing, facilitating, teaching Radiology staff, and students as requested. Assures new staff orientation, precepting, competency needs and provides one-on-one instruction in classroom, and patient care settings. Teaches, demonstrates and re-enforces clinical practices. Works well with other hospital educators, clinical specialists and physicians. Evaluates educational activities and modifies Radiology programs as needed after consulting with Radiology Director.
- Develops and utilizes available resources in providing for the educational needs of staff by: assisting technologists in their professional growth and competence. Consults with peers and constituent groups to provide most effective learning techniques for audience and clinical goals. Employs principles of adult learning, preceptorship, and curriculum building skills to assure sufficient opportunity for staff to complete required and elective educational offerings.
- Works with department Director, Manager, Assistant Directors, Technical Coordinators and Medical Directors to coordinate planning and documentation of educational activities, appropriately utilizing resources of the department including QC dashboard, metrics, and tools for reporting.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology, education, science or management.
- Minimum 4 years of Radiology care experience in a progressive health care environment.
- Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA approved program
- Certified by The American Registry of Radiological Technologists
- Licensed by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)
- Demonstrates proficiency in performing diagnostic imaging
- Functions proficiently with all technical equipment in diagnostic modality
- Demonstrates excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Good decision-making and judgment skills
- Maintain required continuing education as mandated by The American Registry of Radiological Technologists
- Considerable knowledge of standard office practices and procedures along with knowledge of computers and software programs specific to the UCMC and the radiology department
- CPR certification

Compensation & Benefits Overview
UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.
The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
