POSITION SUMMARY:

This Group Therapist position involves the facilitation of structured group therapy sessions aimed at promoting emotional growth, interpersonal skills, and overall mental well-being among clients. Clinical expertise and creativity are utilized to lead group sessions tailored to diverse client needs while fostering a supportive, inclusive environment.


Essential Duties:

  • Leads clinical group sessions, including psychoeducational groups, experiential groups, and crisis intervention services.
  • Works closely with the treatment team including case managers, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and the clinical director.
  • Completes clinical documentation promptly in line with state, insurance, and joint commission regulations.
  • Attends staff training and meetings as required by the employer.


Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in psychology, Social work, required.
  • Experience working with addictions and mental health diagnoses required.
  • Group therapy experience preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of KIPU electronic medical record system is preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.

  • Proficient in maintaining accurate and organized client records using electronic medical/health records (EMR/EHR) systems.
  • Compassion and patience towards people in early recovery and mental health treatment.
  • Willingness to work with clients of all backgrounds and populations.
  • Self-starter and problem solver.
  • Ability to use a variety of counseling interventions including CBT, DBT, ACT, Family Systems, etc.
  • The understanding of an array of theories and models of addiction and mental illness.
  • Knowledge of philosophies, practices, and outcomes of different treatment models.
  • Understanding of relapse prevention through the continuum of care.
  • Understanding of dually diagnosed populations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Competent in areas of gender-specific issues, diverse cultures, and the ability to incorporate the needs of the client into treatment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize daily and weekly tasks appropriately.


Work Environment:

This position is an in-person/office work environment. There will be daily face-to-face interaction with staff and clients. The workday will vary, but it will often include sitting at a desk, working on a computer, meeting with clients, and completing paperwork.
