About IGNIS and Bridger Aerospace
Bridger provides aerial wildfire surveillance, relief and suppression, and aerial firefighting services using next-generation technology and environmentally friendly and sustainable firefighting methods primarily throughout the United States and Canada, as well as airframe modification and integration solutions for governmental and commercial customers. Our mission is to save lives, property and habitats threatened by wildfires, leveraging our high-quality team, specialized aircraft and innovative use of technology and data. We are meeting an underserved and growing need for next-generation full-service aerial firefighting platforms.
IGNIS is the software product team within Bridger Aerospace, building technology that supports wildland fire operations and emergency management. Our platform ingests and analyzes geospatial and operational data to empower firefighters, agencies, and organizations with actionable insights in the field. We combine modern software engineering practices with deep domain expertise to ensure our tools are reliable, secure, and field-ready.
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior or Staff Full-Stack Web Engineer to join our team and help shape the next generation of web applications at IGNIS. You’ll work across the stack: designing intuitive user interfaces with standards-based web components and building reliable backend services in Go and Python. Your work will directly support mission-critical operations in the field.
Responsibilities:
- Frontend Development: Build reusable, accessible, and performant interfaces using TypeScript and web components (standards-based, framework-agnostic).
- Backend Development: Contribute to core services and APIs in Go (primary) and Python, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security.
- Geospatial Integration: Implement interactive maps and data visualizations using tools such as Mapbox, Leaflet, or Cesium.
- System Design: Partner with architects and product teams to design robust, end-to-end solutions for mission-critical use cases.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with mobile, platform, and DevOps engineers to ensure seamless integration across the stack.
- Testing & Quality: Apply strong testing practices, CI/CD workflows, and code reviews to maintain high engineering standards.
- DevOps Involvement: Collaborate with our DevOps engineer on infrastructure-as-code (Pulumi) and cloud deployments in AWS.
Job Requirements:
- Experience: 7+ years in software engineering, with 3+ years in a senior or staff-level full-stack or frontend role.
- Frontend Expertise: Strong knowledge of web APIs, web components, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript; experience with accessibility and performance optimization.
- Backend Skills: Proficiency in Go (primary) and Python; familiarity with microservices, APIs, and distributed systems.
- Cloud & Infra: Experience with AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda) and containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker).
- DevOps Practices: Exposure to CI/CD, monitoring, observability, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Pulumi.
- Collaboration: Excellent communication skills and ability to work across design, mobile, and platform teams.
- Authorized to work in the Unites States
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience with geospatial/mapping platforms or real-time data systems.
- Background in emergency management, wildland firefighting, or other mission-critical domains.
- Familiarity with federated data systems or interoperability standards.
- Experience with real-time communication (video, messaging, telemetry).
Benefits and Perks:
- Industry competitive compensation package
- Company performance-based bonus plan
- Equity stock-based compensation package
- Employer-funded comprehensive health, vision, and dental insurance for employees and dependents.
- 401k with company match
- Employer-funded life and disability insurance coverage
- Heath Savings Account (HSA), Flexible Spending Account (FSA), and Dependent Care FSA options
- Remote work flexibility, with preference for team members located near our headquarters in Belgrade, MT.
