Stantec's Water practice has an opportunity for a full-time Senior Construction Inspector who is excited about the civil, environmental and water resources fields to join our team in beautiful Naples, FL.

The successful candidate will work on challenging and diverse tasks in a consulting and construction quality assurance role that will require application of technical skills, project delivery, and leadership for construction projects.
Your role will be to observe and record activities associated with the Contractor’s construction progress in a fast-paced environment. The selected candidate will need to be self-directed, capable of independent tasks as well as supporting multidiscipline complex teams, and should demonstrate a passion for involvement in the civil construction industry with an enthusiasm for successful completion of projects that meet our clients’ needs.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Under limited supervision, assist with monitoring, inspecting and documenting the construction contractor’s work and develop an understanding of the comprehensive written Daily Report that includes such observation and description of all work activities, measurement of installed material quantities, an accounting of labor and equipment resources utilized, a statement of general compliance or non-compliance with the work, and supporting video and photographs of the work in progress.
- Under limited supervision, review project submittals, submittal review comments, RFI and RFI responses, and incorporate into the quality control inspection plan.
- Review, analyze and document any construction issues potentially resulting in a scope, time or cost impact to the work of the Contractor which may result in a change to the contract.
- Maintain attention to detail during a project’s construction while thinking ahead about the work to follow and project requirements so minor problems can be identified before they develop into larger problems.
- Attend, as necessary, Weekly Progress Meetings with Contractor, including review of progress to planned schedule.
- Assist with documenting compliance and non-compliance with established quality control and quality assurance procedures.
- Assist with preparation of a project punch list for deficient or uncompleted work by the construction contractor.
Qualifications
- Understands underground utility construction for potable water, sanitary sewer, raw water, and stormwater infrastructure, as well as the different methods used during their construction.
- The Construction Inspector will work in a field office or vehicle at a project site and will be required to work in a manner that ensures personal safety as well as the safety of fellow employees by following project and company health and safety guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.
- Understand single-point field inspection of the construction contractor’s work representing the Project Manager in the field.
- Develop an understanding of written reports documenting QA/QC inspections, non-compliance notices, and corrective actions.
- Basic knowledge of how to develop and maintain master as-builts and record drawing information maintained by the Contactor.
- Develop understanding of contract documents and test plan for a designated Work Package for a specific construction activity.
- Develop an understanding of project specific quality control and quality assurance documents and standards for projects that are under development.
- Develops rapport and trust with others.

- Strong organizational skills, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.

- Capable of demonstrating competency in using Microsoft Office and iOS applications to create field work reports.
Education and Experience
- Education: A technical 2-year degree/diploma/certificate in a related program; or equivalent combination of experience and education. Prefer degree in construction management or professional discipline specific field from an accredited institution.
- Experience: Minimum of 15-20 years of relevant underground utility construction observation and documentation experience. At least 10 years of experience in water, wastewater utility plant, pump station, or similar construction field required.
- Acquires specific experience through on-the job consulting projects and executing standard tasks.
- Must be proficient using Microsoft Word and Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and iOS applications to create field work reports.
