Role Overview

The Special Education Case Manager provides part-time support as an independent contractor to ensure high-quality compliance, coordination, and family communication for scholars with IEPs. This role focuses on case management, not direct instruction, and ensures services and timelines are implemented with accuracy and follow-through.


Key Responsibilities

IEP Case Management

  • Monitor compliance for assigned IEP caseload, including timelines, service minutes, and documentation.
  • Schedule, lead, and facilitate IEP meetings in partnership with staff and families.
  • Coordinate with related service providers (speech, OT, PT, etc.) to ensure implementation and documentation.
  • Update and maintain student records in accordance with IDEA and Georgia requirements.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Draft IEPs, amendments, and eligibility paperwork with accuracy and clarity.
  • Track evaluations, reevaluations, service logs, and progress reports.
  • Submit all required documentation on time and in correct systems.

Family Communication

  • Serve as the point of contact for families on your caseload.
  • Communicate upcoming meetings, progress updates, and follow-up actions.
  • Respond to family inquiries with clarity, professionalism, and partnership.

Collaboration & Support

  • Partner with special education teachers, interventionists, and general education staff to ensure accommodations are implemented.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Specialized Services to flag needs, trends, or gaps in service.
  • Attend scheduled check-ins (virtual or on-site) as determined by the Director.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Valid certification in Special Education (Georgia preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing IEPs and facilitating family meetings.
  • Strong understanding of IDEA compliance and state requirements.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Experience in K–6 settings strongly preferred.


Contract Details

  • Type: Independent Contractor (1099)
  • Schedule: Part-time; flexible hours based on caseload and meeting needs
  • Compensation: Competitive hourly or per-case rate (to be determined based on experience)
  • Location: On-site for meetings and school-based coordination; some work may be completed remotely
