JOB SUMMARY
The Quality Lab Scientist Supervisor - physical Labs is responsible for implementing business improvement initiatives for Quality operations Laboratories. He or she defines opportunities, analyzes data with cross functional partners and implements improvements. Ensures compliance to JNJ and international Standards applicable to area of responsibility and drives forward the state of the art direction and best practices.
The person leads the physical labs for RMQA, SFG and FGQA with two lab coordinators and around 25 lab technicians.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Under and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:
Contributes and provides project and routine leadership within the Quality laboratories
Govern and provide all testing and release activities for the physical testing portfolio on site
Main SME for physical test methods and execution
Management of the lab capacity, cycle time and test result delivery
Identifies new areas of testing techniques and software solutions that are consistent with the company’s strategic direction.
Participates in the delivery of new lab testing efforts by using both, existing and new procedures or processes to independently interpret data and identify and correct issues.
Proposes ideas and next steps to QO Manager and exchanges information effectively in order to reach agreement in ambiguous or sensitive situations.
Depending on the seniority and area of the Scientist he or she leads technical groups to implement QO activities for Laborites, Certified Operator program software or microbiological solutions and solve complex problems, while complying with local and global regulatory requirements as well as J&J standards.
Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level
For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable
Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
Performs other duties assigned as needed
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
University/Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
Analytical and methodical problem solving
Knowledge of regulatory requirements (MPG, MDD, 21CFR820, ISO 13485)
Experience in GxP regulated industry
Advanced computer skills and use of software applications
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES and AFFILIATIONS.
German, fluent, native language preferred. English, fluent
Demonstrated project management abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office —Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
A thorough understanding of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)/ISO (International

Reports to Quality Operations Manager Inspection & Test
Regular reporting about project status
Establishes strong connection and collaboration with business partners at the site, e.g. Quality Operations, Compliance, Manufacturing
Acting as main point of contact for changes in Lab Systems and Certified Operator Program
SME for internal audits
QO specialists, lab scientists, quality specialists software application and QA project engineers report to Quality Lab Scientist Supervisor
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS / REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally is required to work in a regulated controlled manufacturing environment using company provided garments and safety equipment. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee
performs routine office and operations demands including computer operation. Routine office and operations including computer usage are required.
LOCATION & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
This position may require up to 10% travel and will be based in Ethicon Norderstedt, Germany
