There is an exciting opportunity within Infrastructure Services team. The Data Centre & Cloud Services teams are responsible for ensuring the cloud, infrastructure and support processes are fit-for-purpose, reliable, scalable and continue to meet the requirements of the organisation.

 

The successful candidate will focus on administration of storage and backup systems in our corporate data centre and cloud services. As a Site Reliability Engineer you will provide technical support and consultation in engineering ‘at-scale’ fault tolerant systems and use automation in operational and deployment activities to advance infrastructure reliability, performance, consistency and predictability.

About the role:

 

  • Pro-actively manage the backup and storage systems of our data centre throughout the whole IT lifecycle
  • Collaborate with vendor representatives and other IT teams to ensure effective testing and resolution of associated complex problems
  • Analyse data to identify trends and any performance issues with the backup and storage performance
  • Coordinate the deployment of fixes and changes to enable their integration into the production environment
  • Manage the risk of cyber security of any lock downs and upgrades schedule for the data centre
  • Draft configurations, roadmaps and any technical diagrams in line with procedures and operational requirements
  • Actively provide recommendations to the manager for any process improvement initiatives
  • Maintain accurate records in line with Departmental regulatory requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in administering large-scale storage and backup systems.
  • Be a self-starter and be confident managing stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Be open to change and operating in a matrix-oriented environment

What backup software products and automation features did you used and why? How did your architecture support scalability and high availability? How did you test or validate your recovery strategy under real conditions?
