Position Summary

ACP is seeking a strategic, mission-driven Vice President, Corporate Communications to define and direct the organization’s brand voice, reputation, and executive communications strategy. Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, this leader will own outcomes across brand identity, corporate messaging, and event/member marketing, while building and sustaining a high-performing team that fosters creativity, accountability, and collaboration. In doing so, this leader will ensure ACP’s communications consistently reflect our organizational values of excellence, integrity, purposeful collaboration, accountability, inclusion, and transparency. 

 

The ideal candidate brings impeccable judgment, a commitment to excellence, and a deep understanding of how strategic communications can influence perceptions, build trust, and deliver results. This leader will oversee ACP’s brand strategy, organizational voice, executive visibility, and event/member marketing campaigns, ensuring all initiatives align with ACP’s mission and long-term reputation goals.

Narrative & Brand Leadership 

  • Define, champion, and direct strategies to shift the narrative around clean power and elevate the industry’s reputation across national, state, and local audiences. 
  • Serve as ACP’s senior-most steward of brand identity, ensuring consistency and alignment with ACP values across all channels. 

Corporate Communications 

  • Oversee internal and external corporate messaging, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with ACP’s mission and strategic goals. 
  • Shape ACP’s organizational voice to authentically convey our values and competencies, embedding clarity, trust, and purpose into all corporate messaging and storytelling. 

Thought Leadership & Executive Communications 

  • Design and execute thought leadership campaigns and executive communications strategies that position ACP senior leaders as trusted, influential voices in the clean energy sector. 
  • Provide strategic counsel to the C-Suite, leveraging advanced subject matter expertise to guide ACP’s public voice. 

Member & Event Marketing Communications 

  • Lead integrated communications and marketing efforts for ACP events and member engagement initiatives to grow visibility and impact. 
  • Direct creative strategy, oversee vendor/agency relationships, and ensure ROI measurement for campaigns and initiatives. 

Team Leadership 

  • Build, lead, and mentor a team of passionate, mission-driven communicators. 
  • Provide coaching, succession planning, and professional development consistent with ACP’s leadership expectations. 
  • Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, inclusion, and purposeful collaboration in line with ACP’s values. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Partner closely with policy, advocacy, events, and membership teams to ensure message alignment and maximize impact. 
  • Anticipate opportunities, break down silos and act as a trusted partner across functions, advancing ACP’s broader goals with transparent communication and purposeful collaboration. 

Issues & Reputation Management 

  • Anticipate and manage reputational risks. Provide counsel on sensitive or high-profile issues requiring swift and nuanced response. 
  • Oversee significant brand and reputation budgets, ensuring financial stewardship and alignment with ACP’s long-term strategy. 

 

Education, Experience & Skills 

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public affairs, or related field; advanced degree preferred. 
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in strategic communications, branding, corporate affairs, or related fields, with demonstrated success in leading brand and narrative strategy. 
  • Proven experience overseeing multi-million-dollar budgets, managing vendors/consultants, and ensuring measurable ROI from campaigns. 
  • Demonstrated ability to craft compelling organizational narratives and lead corporate storytelling that advances mission and reputation. 
  • Strong record of building and maintaining relationships with members, partners, agencies, and internal stakeholders; able to influence and collaborate across all levels. 
  • Recognized expertise in brand management, executive visibility, and corporate communications, with the ability to translate complex issues into accessible, persuasive messaging. 
  • Demonstrated strength in planning and strategy, including anticipating reputational risks, identifying opportunities, and aligning brand and corporate initiatives with long-term objectives. 
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams; proven ability to foster a culture of accountability, trust, and innovation. 
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills, balancing multiple inputs to propose effective solutions under high-pressure or sensitive circumstances. 
  • Superior writing, editing, and presentation skills with a strong eye for clarity, quality, and impact. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to ACP’s organizational values of excellence, integrity, collaboration, accountability, inclusion, and transparency 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); familiarity with project management or marketing platforms a plus.

 

Job Conditions 

We are a fast-paced, high-energy organization with a very ambitious agenda and a staff that is highly motivated. This position may experience high-level work demands and independent decision-making under tight timelines. Regular travel across the country for meetings or events may be required. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. ACP will not sponsor applicants for work visas. 

We reasonably believe that the base salary range for this position is $250,000- 275,000. At ACP, compensation decisions consider skills, experience, training, education, and organizational needs.
