Role Overview The Procurement HBS team will perform procurement and sourcing activities including managing low spend sourcing, managing a contracting centre of excellence (focussing on contracting for low to medium spend suppliers and managing all the contracts and the contracting operations), and performing required sourcing operational and support activities. This team will closely partner with the Global Procurement function to ensure a high quality user experience, delivery of efficiency across 3rd party spend and agility and simplification in the process. It will be set up to be aligned with both the global HBS strategy and global Procurement strategy. This role in particular seeks an experienced leader to spearhead the Procurement team in HBS, developing and driving its strategy and execution. This role has accountability for the design, execution, governance and improvement roadmap of the Procurement activities in HBS. This role requires close collaboration with senior stakeholders across various functions, including Procurement, HBS leadership, Finance, Technology, P2P, Risk & Compliance, Change & Comms, and Project Management. In this role you will…
• Work closely with Procurement leadership to design the services in HBS, including analyse, forecast and plan demand for HBS procurement (pipeline of work)
• Be the business partner for Procurement fostering an integrated procurement function, to credibly and effectively manage requirements and champion change across the business
• Lead the execution of all services for Procurement in HBS
• Lead Procurement talent at HBS, and ensure they are set up for success through skill and capability building and best in class leadership
Key Responsibilities
• Leadership and Collaboration:
o Lead and collaborate closely with cross-functional senior stakeholders from Procurement, Finance, Tech, P2P, Risk & Compliance, Corporate Comms, and Project Management
o Lead the design and thinking behind the Procurement HBS services
o In collaboration with the Global procurement leadership develop and execute the Procurement services roadmap
o Engage with Procurement, Finance Services, and Technology organizations to gather business requirements and design new business processes.
o Work with Procurement leadership on the pipeline of work to resource each project and task according to skill, business demand and criticality and identify needs for more resources or where resources are not being used effectively (“on the bench”). Provides options to use resources more effectively
• Process leadership & execution:
o Manage operations for sourcing/onboarding external workforce
o Manage travel related operational procurement activities
o Manage TPRM service operational delivery
o Lead design and execution of sourcing specialisms such as low spend management and low to medium spend contracting management
• Procurement Operations
o Ensure smooth & uninterrupted support is provided to shoppers, buyers and suppliers to resolve their queries in a timely and efficient manner with minimum escalations
o Ensure Procurement tools/platforms tools are widely used across procurement and users get the maximum value from them
o Lead Operations team to ensure timely & quality support is provided to users
o Identify pain points and trends to feed into the digital roadmap & support model
o Monitor and measure compliance to procurement policies and procedures across HBS procurement and embed framework for the management of tasks conducted sub-optimally or not according to procedures
o Be accountable for ensuring the agreed KPIs for HBS procurement are measured, tracked, resolved and improved continuously, achieving best practice levels.
• Team Management:
o Develop the framework and plan for the recruitment of resources, including facilitating the development of criteria, skills, training needs, timeframes, etc.
o Manage a team (~10-20 people built over time) performing defined procurement processes and operations and drive continuous improvements, ensuring Global Procurement can deliver maximum value to the business.
o Manage the team capability and motivation, ensuring synergies and seamless collaboration happens across all levels
Experience required
• Prior experience in managing a global and complex team
• Managing a complex and varied range of stakeholders
• Full understanding for core source to pay processes including technology supporting the process
• Experience in managing complex, high risk projects and programmes to improve performance and deliver service across a global organisation
• Desirable to have prior experience in managing Procurement responsibilities in a shared service centre
Qualifications & Skills:
• Bachelors - Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, related field or any Bachelors, combined with relevant experience.
• Preferred: master’s degree (Procurement, Finance, Business or equivalent)
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in Procurement (as a solution provider, consultant or practitioner) including eProcurement (Ariba), digital solutions, Sourcing, contract management, tail spend management, SRM, SLM, P2P, etc.
• Experience leading a team of Procurement process resources, tech experts and process owners
• High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (e.g., PowerPoint and Excel)
• Strong written and verbal communications, and influencing skills. Specifically developing presentations and business cases for executive audiences
• Superior networking skills and a proven ability to build productive and collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders and business partners
