Position Overview
We are seeking a full-time Capital Markets Associate to work in our Chicago, IL office. The Capital Markets group originates and executes public and private equity, equity linked, and debt offerings across sectors. You will participate in the full cycle of deal execution. Our team partners with the firm’s coverage bankers advising public corporations, private companies, and financial sponsors globally on multiple avenues of financing and other aspects of the capital markets. Capital Markets liaises with internal sales professionals, traders and equity research analysts. The interaction between these groups provides us with excellent market intelligence, industry knowledge and execution capabilities. Our environment is collaborative, demanding, fast-paced, and entrepreneurial.
The base salary for this position is $140,000 to $175,000 annually. Placement within this range is dependent upon level of experience. This position is eligible for quarterly bonus compensation.
Position Responsibilities
- Support senior management on full transaction execution and new business origination
- Specific responsibilities will include creating materials for pitches and other meetings; analyzing companies, sectors, deal activity, corporate filings, and shareholder data
- Building relationships with internal and external deal constituents
- Constructing and managing internal deal and investor-related databases
- Have direct interaction with client management teams and institutional investors
- Monitor the macroeconomic environment and issuance activity in the capital markets
- The ability to create innovative solutions, articulate complex ideas and adapt to a rapidly changing environment is essential
- Interface with the institutional sales and equity research teams on transaction execution
General Qualifications
- Minimum three years of relevant work experience. Preferably with at least two years in capital markets, investment banking, institutional equity sales and/or buy or sell side research
- FINRA SIE, 79, and 63 licenses, or willingness to obtain them promptly.
- In-depth understanding of accounting and financial statement analysis with hands on experience with financial modeling and corporate valuation analysis
- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple different work streams
- Proven ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to articulate complex concepts
- Advanced user of the Microsoft suite, especially in Excel and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of institutional investor landscape a plus
