Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive program of activities that promote recreation, diversion, intellectual, educational, and spiritual development for our Health Care residents.
- Coordinate and facilitate a variety of events and activities tailored to residents’ individual conditions and requirements.
- Integrate activity programs seamlessly into residents’ daily routines to enhance their overall quality of life.
- Collaborate with staff, residents, and community partners to ensure activities are engaging, accessible, and inclusive.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs, making adjustments as needed to meet residents’ evolving needs.
- Maintain accurate records of activities, participation, and feedback to support continuous improvement.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in event planning, recreational programming, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy or Certified Activities Professional preferred.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse populations.
- Ability to assess individual needs and adapt programs accordingly.
- Knowledge of community resources and activities that support educational, spiritual, and recreational development.
- Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to enhancing residents’ well-being.
- Current Virginia driver’s license and meet driver eligibility requirements per Sunnyside policy (HR69) as well as ability to drive a 13 passenger wheelchair bus.
- Operate personal computer, printer, copy machines and other general office equipment. Familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn new software programs.

Requirements
- Develops, implements and oversees events programs for KG Community that will meet social, spiritual and intellectual needs of residents.
- Maximizes participation of residents in events programs.
- Assesses and documents resident information in compliance with State and Federal Laws.
- Researches and develops new programs for residents.
- Develops programs to increase resident visibility and involvement with community services resource people.
- Recognizes the specific needs of the Alzheimer/dementia resident.
- Plans HC events which involve residents, their families, and occasionally employees.
- Plans trips for all residents in Health Care/Skilled unit.
- Maintain accurate records of department purchases so that all monies are accounted for HC activities expense accounts.
- Monitor and make recommendations that assure compliance with safety standards for residents and staff.
- Monitors involvement pattern of residents so that resident participation is maximized.
- Oversees the displays for bulletin boards and seasonal decorations that are of high interest to residents.
- Coordinates writing and circulation of newsletters and events calendars for residents.
- Plan out the monthly activity calendar for licensed areas
- Oversee Aviary in Health Care unit – keep it clean and responsible for feeding/watering
- Reporting for licensed areas
- Might be required to train with wheelchair safety for volunteers, sitters, etc.
- Possess skill and ability to plan, organize, implement and direct the craft activities program using strong skills in the arts and crafts area.
- Possess strong communication skills in order to interact with residents through reality orientation techniques and motivational therapy as well as supervises volunteers.
- Operate general office equipment.
- Meet all training requirements as required by Federal and State Regulations, company and community policies.
- Demonstrate a commitment to safety by following safety rules and guidelines; follow good housekeeping practices, take proper care of equipment and perform job duties and responsibilities in a safe and responsible manner.
- Demonstrate dependability, reliability and punctuality. Report to work when schedule, ready to work.
