The Role
The Market Research Lead directs Presidio's internal market research function supporting Portfolio Strategy and Partner Planning, playing a critical role in developing our product management capabilities where products are services. This leadership role provides strategic oversight across research priorities, framing of executive deliverables, and alignment with platform strategy workstreams. The Market Research Lead elevates market intelligence capabilities within Presidio's organization, ensuring research outputs directly inform portfolio decisions, partner investments, and go-to-market strategies. This position was created to bring structure and strategic focus to Presidio's market intelligence efforts as part of the broader research maturity initiative. 

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and develop a team of market research analysts to deliver high-impact intelligence for executive decision-making. 
  • Define research strategy and priorities aligned with Presidio's portfolio roadmap and partner ecosystem goals. 
  • Oversee production of executive-ready research deliverables including market assessments, competitive analysis, and strategic recommendations. 
  • Partner with Portfolio Strategy leadership to integrate market intelligence into strategic planning cycles and investment decisions. 
  • Collaborate with Partner Planning teams to shape vendor relationship strategies based on market dynamics and ecosystem trends. 
  • Establish research methodologies, quality standards, and delivery frameworks for consistent intelligence outputs. 
  • Present research findings and strategic recommendations to C-level executives and board members. 
  • Build relationships with industry analysts, research firms, and external intelligence sources to enhance Presidio's market visibility. 
  • Coordinate with Services Product Management to ensure market insights inform offering development and positioning. 
  • Drive cross-functional alignment between research outputs and field enablement, ensuring sales teams leverage market intelligence effectively. 
  • Manage research budget, vendor relationships, and tool investments to optimize intelligence capabilities. 
  • Develop talent within the research team through mentoring, skill development, and career progression planning. 

Technology/Area of Specialization: 

  • Deep expertise in technology market research with focus on services, cloud transformation, and IT services sectors. 
  • Comprehensive understanding of partner ecosystems including Microsoft, Cisco, AWS, Google Cloud, and emerging technology vendors. 
  • Knowledge of industry analyst firms (Gartner, Forrester, IDC) and their research methodologies. 
  • Familiarity with competitive intelligence platforms and market research tools. 
  • Understanding of financial modeling and business case development for strategic initiatives. 
  • Experience with agile research methodologies and rapid insight delivery. 

Basic Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Strategic thinking with ability to connect market insights to business outcomes and revenue opportunities. 
  • Exceptional communication skills for executive presentations and cross-functional influence. 
  • Leadership capabilities to build and motivate high-performing research teams. 
  • Strong project management skills to oversee multiple complex research initiatives. 
  • Financial acumen to understand market economics and business model implications. 
  • Relationship building skills for internal stakeholder management and external partnerships. 
  • Data-driven decision making with ability to balance quantitative and qualitative insights. 
  • Change management skills to elevate organizational research maturity. 

Required Skills: 

  • 7-10 years of experience in market research, competitive intelligence, or strategy consulting, with at least 3 years in leadership roles. 
  • Bachelor's degree required: MBA or advanced degree in Business, Economics, or related field preferred. 
  • Proven track record of building and leading research teams in technology or professional services environments. 
  • Experience presenting to C-level executives and board members. 
  • Demonstrated ability to translate market insights into actionable business strategies. 
  • Strong understanding of B2B technology markets, particularly services and cloud ecosystems. 
  • Experience with research tools, CRM systems, and business intelligence platforms. 
  • Track record of establishing research processes and frameworks in growing organizations.

Physical Requirements: 

Primarily office-based role with standard computer work requirements. Travel (10-15%) required for industry events, partner meetings, executive briefings, and team collaboration sessions. May require occasional evening or weekend work to meet executive deadlines.
