We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team. This role offers hands-on experience in mechanical design, prototyping, and testing of safety-related equipment and products. The selected candidate will work alongside an experienced team of engineers, gaining exposure to the full product development cycle. This position works in a team environment at our office in Newburgh, IN. This is not a remote position.
This position reports to the Director of Engineering.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of product specifications (may require researching applicable regulatory requirements for a given market).
- Prepare and maintain documentation required to define products, verify compliance according to customer requirements, and fulfill product development processes using Arena Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.
- Assist in completing design tasks from concept to validation by creating prototypes and conducting engineering development testing to ensure compliance with established requirements.
- Create 3D models and detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks
- Work with the team to continuously improve existing products based on customer feedback, industry standards, and market requirements.
- Participate in design reviews to ensure products meet specifications and that engineering documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with defined requirements.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure design meets manufacturing, safety, and cost goals.
Qualifications & Competencies

- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with SolidWorks preferred.
- Experience with Arena PLM software is a plus but not required.
- Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2018) is a plus but not required.
- Ability to demonstrate analytical problem solving.
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage time and tasks effectively.
Working Conditions
- Most work will occur in a standard office setting (desk, computer, etc.) and engineering lab/testing areas (lab benches, test equipment, etc.).
- Occasional travel to vendor or partner facilities may be required. Safety equipment (e.g., safety glasses, ESD protection) may be necessary in certain environments.
Physical Requirements
