As a dynamic, rapidly growing company, we are looking for a purpose-driven and dedicated talent to join our expanding Development team. The Upgrade Project Manager will be responsible for contributing to Smoothie King’s success by overseeing and coordinating all aspects of upgrade projects within our franchise network. Working closely with franchisees, vendors, and internal stakeholders, ensures that upgrade initiatives align with our brand standards, enhance guest experiences, and maintain the overall integrity of our franchise system.

Essential Functions:
  • Project Planning and Assessment: Collaborate with franchisees to understand their upgrade needs, evaluate existing locations, and develop comprehensive project plans that encompass scope, budget, and timeline considerations.
  • Franchisee Support: Provide guidance and support to franchisees throughout the remodel process, offering resources and expertise to assist them in making informed decisions while maintaining brand consistency.
  • Vendor and Contractor Selection: Identify and engage reputable vendors and contractors who have experience working within franchise structures, ensuring they adhere to quality standards and comply with our brand guidelines.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure that all upgrade projects meet regulatory requirements, building codes, and brand standards, while also adhering to any specific franchise agreement provisions.
  • Budget Management: Collaborate with franchisees to create and manage project budgets, providing financial guidance and cost-saving strategies without compromising on remodel quality.
  • Progress Tracking and Reporting: Monitor project timelines, milestones, and expenses, providing regular updates to both franchisees and corporate management to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Change Management: Help franchisees manage any challenges or changes that may arise during the remodel process, offering solutions and support to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Training and Support: Develop training materials and resources for franchisees to effectively manage remodel projects, equipping them with the necessary tools and knowledge for a successful implementation.
  • Best Practices and Knowledge Sharing: Continuously evaluate and share best practices in franchise remodel project management, fostering collaboration and driving continuous improvement throughout the franchise network.
  • Relationship Management: Cultivate strong relationships with franchisees, vendors, and internal stakeholders, promoting effective communication and collaboration to ensure successful project delivery.
Major Responsibilities / Specific Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager, with a focus on franchise upgrade projects in the food and beverage industry.
  • Familiarity with franchise systems and the ability to balance brand consistency with individual franchisee needs.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, building codes, and regulatory requirements across different locations.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply value engineering principles to improve project efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of navigating diverse stakeholder relationships within a franchise structure.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Financial acumen and experience managing project budgets in a franchise context.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, capable of overseeing multiple projects and timelines simultaneously.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field required; degree in Architecture preferred but not required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in a construction-based role; retail or franchise restaurant experience preferred.
  • Experience working directly with real estate and design team members.
  • Scheduling, estimating, budgeting, and procurement experience.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Personal passion for health and fitness is a plus.
