Description

Under the direction of the Director of Logistics and After Market, the Sustainability/After Marker Manager will manage the aftermarket and solid waste operations, including the receiving, processing and marketing of all salvage and recyclables. Conduct energy audits to ensure best practices and collaborate with all departments to develop, implement and sustain effective energy management concepts and practices, and efficient operation of utilities. They will ensure accurate tracking of materials and maintenance of records of incoming and outgoing materials. This person will manage the logistics, equipment specifications, and environmental compliance as required along with building strong business relationships with recycling vendors, community professionals, outside agencies and other business contacts in addition to internal stakeholders.

Essential Functions/Duties

1. Develops and establishes strong business relationships with recycling vendors and other business accounts.

2. Provide and develop energy conservation programs to further reduce/better manage energy/utility consumption within the organization.

3. Ensure successful delivery of recycling and solid waste operations, including the receiving processing and marketing of all recyclables.

4. Ensures that all recyclables are disposed of in a responsible manner.

5. Assesses, evaluates, establishes and develops new business opportunities. Ensures projects meet strategic goals.

6. Maintains an up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical developments that affect target markets.

7. Researches and develops list of potential salvage/recycling vendors.

8. Diligently follows up on and develops leads

9. Produces regular reports, final plans and forecast reports.

10. Understands client/prospect’s requirements and is able to direct pursuit activities with internal team.

11. Coordinates with the operations group on scope and timelines.

12. Schedule and monitor all department hours to ensure cost effective operation.

13. Negotiate pricing for salvage and recyclable goods.

14. Sets and manages expectations and proactively communicates with vendors.

15. Successfully and professionally delivers presentations to vendors.

16. Identify trends, concerns and opportunities for improvement in order to provide coaching to management team to take action and achieve operational goals.

17. Maintain an awareness of competitive retailers and marketing techniques.

18. Train and certify associates on operating a forklift.

Additional Functions/Duties

1. Assist in locating additional salvage vendors and sale opportunities to maximize operational commitments.

2. Assist in providing inter-departmental training as requested by Director of Logistics and After Market.

3. Work with other departments within the scope of Retail Services to ensure an effective and efficient operation.

4. Evaluate performance of department personnel as requested.

5. Compile special data as requested by the Director of Logistics and After Market.

6. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Logistics and After Market.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

1. 3 to 5 years of managerial and supervisory experience.

2. Bachelor`s degree from four year college or university preferred.

3. Experience in sustainability preferred.

4. Become forklift certified (will receive training).

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Beginner knowledge of PowerPoint. Ability to research items utilizing advance search engine features on the Internet.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has supervisory responsibilities including supervision of subordinate supervisors.

Purchasing Authority:

Purchasing Authority Level: Managers/Coordinators

Special Conditions of Employment

(e.g. physical or environmental requirements, irregular work schedule, required license or certification, background check)

1. Regularly lift and /or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.

2. Vision abilities required by this job include: close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

3. Standing and walking for long periods of time.

4. Perform work outside and inside; exposure to weather conditions, dust, dirt, electricity, noise, fumes and chemicals.

5. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud (examples: metal can manufacturing department, large earth moving equipment).

License and Certifications:

Valid Florida Driver’s License with a clean driving record and current private auto insurance policy.
