How you’ll make an impact:  

The Staff Accountant (Accounts Receivable) is an onsite role at our St Paul, MN facility reporting to the Controller. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial role in the MRP corporate accounting team having primary responsibilities with a focus on accounts receivable (AR), as well as some general accounting support as needed.  

 

A Day in the Life: 

  • Accounts Receivable (AR):  

  • Generate and distribute a high volume of invoices for customers accurately and in a timely manner. 

  • Record and post payments received from customers. 

  • Follow up with customers on overdue payments via phone and email. 

  • Manage credit hold process and communicate with customer service as holds are released. 

  • Maintain customer accounts, including verifying customer information, conducting credit checks, monitoring credit limits, updating records, and resolving any discrepancies. 

  • General Accounting Support: 

  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding payment status, inquiries, and discrepancies. 

  • Support month-end closing activities, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations related to accounts receivable, inventory, commissions, revenue recognitions, and multi-plant allocations. 

  • Prepare daily bank reconciliations. 

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements. 

  • Support external audit and tax preparation processes by providing documentation and answering inquiries. 

  • Assist with other special projects and/or ad hoc tasks as assigned. 

  • Inventory: 

  • Perform daily updates to WIP calculations. 

  • Physical inventory and reconciliation of physical counts to perpetual records. 

  • Reconcile inventory reports to the general ledger and record adjustments. 

 

 

What we’re looking for:  

Basic Requirements 

  • Previous accounts receivable experience in a business-to-business environment.  

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software and other Microsoft Office 365 products (i.e., Outlook, Word, etc.). 

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for success in this role.  

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently. 

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to proactively identify and resolve discrepancies and issues. 

  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal business partners, customers, and suppliers. 

  • Maintain a high level of integrity and adhere to ethical standards in all financial activities. 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or related field. 

  • Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
