SUMMARY 

 The Assembly Lead is responsible for providing day-to-day first-line leadership and coordination of departmental activities within the Assembly department. This role supports the Department Supervisor or Plant Manager in promoting ASPC's lean manufacturing goals and continuous improvement efforts. The Assembly Lead serves as a key point of contact for associate development, operational efficiency, quality standards, and departmental communication across all shifts. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  

  • Lead and coordinate daily activities of assembly department team members across shifts.
  • Work directly with the supervisor and production control to ensure on-time delivery of customer requirements.
  • Assist in scheduling work hours, managing attendance, and coordinating vacation coverage to maintain productivity.
  • Fill in for supervisors as needed and assist with employee performance reviews and new lead training.
  • Support 5S and general housekeeping standards within the department.
  • Lead problem-solving efforts related to quality issues and process improvements.
  • Update and maintain Quality Job Instructions (QJIs) and work instructions.
  • Respond to emails and communications in a timely and professional manner.
  • Use specifications, blueprints, and job orders to assign tasks and provide guidance to team members.
  • Promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with company safety protocols and policies.
  • Enter data, track production, and use PLEX and Microsoft tools for documentation and communication.
  • Foster a team-oriented environment through effective leadership, collaboration, and shift-to-shift communication.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE  

  • High school diploma or GED required; an associate degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment (automotive preferred).
  • Working knowledge of LEAN principles and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and job orders.

TECHNICAL SKILLS & ABILITIES   

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email systems.
  • Proficiency in PLEX or similar manufacturing software.
  • Use of measurement tools such as gauges, comparators, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is essential.

 SOFT SKILLS  

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and write clear instructions and professional correspondence.
  • Capability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Proactive, hands-on leadership style with flexibility and coachability.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to follow through on tasks.
  • Ability to analyze problems, adapt to shifting demands, and make sound decisions.

PHYICAL DEMANDS  

  • Regular standing, walking, stooping, climbing ladders, and reaching.
  • Frequent repetitive motion and use of hands.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Visual requirements include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Exposure to workplace chemicals and mechanical equipment.
