Summary/Objective
A successful Social Media Coordinator will be a dynamic digital storyteller, community builder and content creator who elevates the Medora and Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation brand across all social platforms. This role requires a creative professional who can utilize all aspects of social media platforms to develop captivating content, build authentic relationships with our audience, and drive meaningful engagement that translates to increased visitation, brand loyalty and revenue. You'll be responsible for staying ahead of digital trends while maintaining brand consistency and fostering genuine connections with the TRMF audience.
Duties/Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
- Develop and execute comprehensive social media strategies through competitive research, platform optimization, audience identification, and trend analysis to drive engagement and visitation
- Create promotion plans for TRMF events, attractions, and seasonal campaigns while identifying new engagement methods and customer attraction strategies
Content Creation & Management
- Create, curate, and publish compelling daily content across several social platforms including high-quality photography, graphics, videos, and interactive media using professional design tools
- Maintain brand voice consistency while adapting messaging for platform-specific audiences
Community Management
- Monitor and moderate all user-generated content while facilitating online conversations and responding to customer queries within 2-4 hours during business hours
- Manage social shopping features and coordinate cross-promotional opportunities with local tourism partners
Influencer & Partnership Management
- Build and maintain relationships with micro and macro influencers, travel bloggers, and brand ambassadors
- Coordinate influencer partnerships including contract generation, content approval, and performance tracking
Analytics & Reporting
- Track, analyze, and report on key social media metrics and ROI using advanced analytics tools
- Provide weekly performance reports with actionable insights and recommendations for continuous improvement
- Establish and monitor KPIs aligned with business objectives
Collaboration & Tools Management
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Sales, Development, and Operations teams on integrated marketing initiatives
- Implement and manage social media scheduling platforms, automation systems, and paid advertising campaign optimization
- Stay current with social media best practices and technologies while providing training to coworkers as needed
Content & Emerging Platforms
- Short-form Video Production: Create engaging TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts content showcasing Medora's attractions and experiences
- Live Streaming Management: Host occasional live sessions during events
- Platform Innovation: Research and test emerging social platforms (BeReal, Threads, etc.) to maintain competitive advantage
- User-Generated Content Campaigns: Develop hashtag campaigns and encourage visitor content creation through creative challenges
- Social Listening: Monitor brand mentions, competitor activity, and industry conversations using social listening tools?
- Audience Segmentation: Develop targeted content strategies for different audience segments (families, history buffs, adventure seekers, etc.)
- Conversion Tracking: Implement UTM parameters and tracking pixels to measure social media's impact on ticket sales and bookings
Required Skills and Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Pinterest) including platform-specific best practices, algorithms, and advertising options
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro), Canva Pro, video editing software, and Microsoft Office
- Proficiency with social media management platforms (Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Later, or similar) and analytics tools (Google Analytics, Facebook Analytics, native platform insights)
- Understanding of SEO principles, basic HTML/CSS knowledge for website integration, and familiarity with web design and publishing
- Exceptional storytelling abilities with strong visual design sensibilities, photography/videography skills, and mobile content creation capabilities
- Ability to create unique and engaging content while adapting brand voice across platforms and maintaining consistency
- Understanding of social media KPIs, online marketing strategies, and ability to predict future trends for customer engagement
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with customer service orientation and conflict resolution abilities
- Strong project management, multitasking, and time management capabilities with ability to work independently while meeting deadlines
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with collaborative mindset for cross-functional teamwork
- Creative passion for unique content creation and deep understanding of social networking, photo sharing, and video sharing platforms
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Public Relations, or related field (equivalent combination of education and professional experience considered)
- Relevant certifications (Google Analytics, Facebook Blueprint, Hootsuite, etc.) preferred
- 2+ years of professional social media coordinator experience with proven track record of growing accounts and engagement
- Portfolio demonstrating successful campaigns including content creation and comprehensive planning
- Experience with crisis management and real-time social media responses
- Experience with emerging platforms and adaptability to new technologies
- Experience with influencer marketing, partnership development, and paid social advertising with budget management
- Tourism/hospitality industry social media experience preferred
Work Environment
Primary office setting with occasional outdoor content creation. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability required for some events and real-time engagement. Occasional travel for influencer events, conferences, and meetings.
Physical Demands
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
