The Role …
We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and hands-on sales professional to serve as the Customer Business Manager for Ecommerce, leading the strategic and day-to-day management of our Chewy.com account, a key partner in Hartz’s Ecommerce portfolio. In this role, you will be accountable for delivering sales targets, driving revenue growth, and maximizing profitability through data-driven business planning, promotional execution, and assortment optimization.
You will cultivate strong, collaborative relationships with Chewy’s category managers while partnering cross-functionally with internal teams to align on strategy, ensure flawless execution, and unlock long-term category growth. This role offers a unique opportunity to not only take ownership of business performance, but also to develop a deep understanding of the operational aspects that support our behind-the-scenes success. By leveraging insights into consumer behavior, product performance, and market trends, you will identify and drive new sales opportunities while establishing yourself as a trusted industry expert.
In this position, you will work remotely from your home base, located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (preferred), Seattle, Washington or Boston, Massachusetts.
Your Responsibilities …
Sales & Business Planning
- Achieve sales targets for overall territory, customer and category within approved trade spend budget through effective annual vendor negotiations, promotions and site-merchandising.
- Develop, monitor, and continually revise annual business plan to ensure accurate forecasting.
- Analyze sales data and communicate trends, insights, and risks via performance reports to Hartz internal teams. Use data to adjust the customer business plan.
- Prioritize strategically important categories and expedite new product launches/ramp-up in order to drive growth.
Customer & Account Management
- Build exceptionally strong relationships with key account stakeholders through consistent communication in order to position Hartz as strategic partners and category experts.
- Understand and communicate account strategies and goals to the internal team.
Cross-Functional & e-Commerce Collaboration
- Work closely with the internal teams including Marketing, Brand, and Customer Planning to identify key opportunities in the e-Commerce channel, and develop strategies and programs that will deliver profitable, incremental sales.
- Establish and maintain effective cross-functional relationships with Marketing, Brand, Customer Planning, Order Management and Sourcing teams.
Administrative & Operational Support
- Effectively manage administrative responsibilities, including price change forms, deductions, and planning schedules.
- Attend tradeshows (Global Pet, SuperZoo), customer meetings and company events as necessary.
You’ll Need …
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business or Marketing, with a minimum 3 years of direct e-commerce sales experience with a CPG company selling to Amazon and/or Chewy (or 5+ years of related sales experience in lieu of degree); Experience working with or for Chewy preferred.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with proven negotiation skills.
- Solution selling expertise: Demonstrated ability to apply solution-selling strategies by deeply understanding customer needs, business goals, and category challenges.
- Analytical Skills: Proven ability to analyze complex sales data, identify trends, and draw meaningful insights that help improve business plans and drive growth.
- MAP Skills: Experience with Unilateral Pricing Policies (MAP).
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Gmail, Meet, Calendar, Sheets, Slides).
- Business Travel: Willingness and ability to travel (˜ 1x month).
