Development Accountant
Ducks Unlimited National Headquarters - Memphis, TN
Ducks Unlimited National Headquarters has an opening for a part-time, Development Accountant. This person will implement the budget process for the development team, to include partnering with team leaders to develop and regularly monitor the development budget; provide data analytics related to development accounting; and serve as the liaison between the development and finance/accounting team.
The position will report to the National Director of Advancement.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of the budget process, to include development, tracking and monthly reconciliation.
- Develop a quick reference guide for main accounts and cost centers for the development team.
- Identify programs for regular reconciliation, i.e. pledge receivable, national cost center major gift recognitions, batches reassigned to accounting.
- Implement monthly CRM data hygiene for GL-related transactions.
- Assist with transfers to Ducks Unlimited Canada and Ducks Unlimited de Mexico.
- Partner with accounting to build new endowment tracking and reporting process.
- Manage reporting and data analysis needs (new PBI reports) as it relates to budget tracking and analysis.
- Collaborate with the accounting team to enhance and track tangible gifts.
- Develop procedures to process all real estate related donations with a focus on GL and donor stewardship.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external partners.
- Other duties as needed assigned by leadership.
Qualifications:
Experience and Education: Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5-7 years in non-profit accounting or fundraising operations.
Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), including strong presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization and work successfully with them.
Technological Proficiency: High proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite required. Experience with Dynamics D365 and Blackbaud CRM a plus.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical, planning, time management, and organizational skills required. An ability to manage multifaceted projects and a capacity to perform well independently in a fast-faced, multi-tasking environment are essential.
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal, relationship and team-building skills. Ability to provide leadership and guidance to other fundraising professionals and volunteers. Self-starter who can work independently as well as part of a team and is driven to succeed.
