Position Duties
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under direct supervision and following all applicable policies and procedures, operates mail room equipment including an x-ray machine, postage meter and package tracking system. Receives, sorts, logs, and delivers incoming and outgoing mail, packages,andfreight.DrivesStatevehiclesasacouriertopickupanddelivermailandpackagesfromUnitedStates Postal Service (USPS) facilities and other offsite locations. May enter data into inventory tracking systems and assist with processing surplus property for redistribution or disposal. May drive State vehicles to and from maintenance and fueling facilities. Performs other duties as assigned by management.
The candidate must be a strong team player, a self-starter and possess excellent customer service, problem-solving, work prioritization and multitasking skills. The candidate must also be able to maintain confidentiality and discretion when dealing with sensitive and personal information. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Valid class driver's license
- Operating a vehicle
- Working in all weather conditions; sometimes for extended periods of time
- Able to lift items weighing up to 50lbs
- Frequent standing, sitting, walking, stooping, bending, twisting or crouching
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Mail Services Worker 1:
High school diploma or GED AND Two years of mail processing, general office, or administrative experience AND a valid class driver's license.
Mail Services Worker 2:
High school diploma or GED AND Four years of mail processing, general office, or administrative experience AND a valid class driver's license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference will be given to applicants that, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess the following:
- Three (3) years of experience in operating a postage meter and a package tracking system.
