JOB SUMMARY as a Commercial Paralegal you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:

Assist attorneys in preparing files. Review, draft, file, and serve legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence.  Assist in the management of the department litigation calendar by scheduling hearings and mediations; draft legal services agreements and contracts with clients and provide client updates when requested by clients or at the direction of manager or managing attorney.

  • Follow, create and maintain standard operating procedures. 
  • Demonstrates the Firm’s core values in interactions with co-workers, attorneys, clients, the courts and consumers. 
  • Scanning, photocopying, collating, and faxing
  • Legal data entry
  • Handle client inquiries
  • Ability to multitask 
  • High level of attention to detail 
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects at once, ability to prioritize deadlines and commitments 
  • Ability to communicate in an effective manner
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Self-Starter and motivated 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite: Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of CLS collection software is a plus
  • Ability to extract information from the firm’s software to create reports or summaries for managing attorneys and or the Director of the Department 
  • 50+ WPM typing skills
  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to bend, lift, or carry up to 20 pounds
  • All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Paralegal Certification required. 
  • 2 years+ experience in civil litigation firm or in-house legal department preferred
  • Background in civil litigation required, background in Creditors Rights Laws preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess a positive and professional attitude 
  • Responsible individual who is able to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic and dependability
  • Competency in MS Word, Excel, WordPerfect, and PDF

TRAVEL – This position requires up to 0-5% travel. Travel excludes local commute.
