We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Design Manager to lead our mechanical design team and drive quality, efficiency, and innovation across multiple projects.
As the Mechanical Design Manager, you will oversee the design of fixtures and gages for MIG welding and BIW automated systems. You will be responsible for managing a team of designers, simulators, and processors, ensuring that all projects meet quality, cost, and efficiency targets. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a passion for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all department projects, including timeline and budget management.
- Supervise and support a team of technical professionals, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and project timelines. Allocate tasks and responsibilities based on employee skill sets, project needs, and deadlines. Foster a collaborative and accountable work environment through regular check-ins, performance feedback, and mentorship.
- Review project scopes and develop budgets and plans to ensure successful execution.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design processes and reduce costs.
- Maintain and report project design and commissioning status to senior leadership.
- Develop and manage RFQ packages for outsourced design work.
- Participate in pre-design reviews and ensure adherence to customer specifications.
- Evaluate and implement preventive maintenance strategies within the design infrastructure.
- Participate in lessons learned, internal and customer design reviews, and special projects.
- Oversee the submission, accuracy, and approval of employee timecards in compliance with company policy.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of relevant mechanical design experience.
- At least 3 years of experience leading a team including assigning work, coaching, performance development
- Proven expertise in designing MIG and Resistance (BIW) welding fixtures.
- Strong knowledge of simulation and process engineering.
- Proficiency in CAD software and understanding of design timelines.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Work Environment: This position operates in both an office and a manufacturing site environment
Work type & Expected hours of work: Regularly works on-site at local Paslin locations. Work schedules are flexible around core business hours of 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday. This position is for regular, full-time work and may require coming in early, working late, or working on weekends to meet the needs of the business.
Role Experience Level: Mid-Senior level

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and twist. Occasionally required to lift/push/pull up to 25lbs.
Direct Reports: This position has direct reports.
Travel: This position requires some local travel and occasional overnight travel up to 10%.
