Internship Location, Availability, and Hours
- This internship runs Monday, June 8, 2026, through Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
- Internship hours are Monday-Thursday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM out of our office in Carmel, IN.
- Interns will not work the week of the Independence Day holiday (Monday, June 29 through Friday, July 3).
- This internship pays $20/hr.
Requirements
Core Responsibilities
As an intern, you will gain hands-on exposure to both wealth management and retirement plan advisory services. Working closely with our experienced team, you will help with and shadow and assist with a variety of tasks and responsibilities that reflect the core functions of our business.
Retirement Team Responsibilities
- Shadow and support retirement team members during client interactions and internal processes.
- Assist team members in preparing for client meetings, including enrollment sessions, financial wellness workshops and education sessions, and committee meetings.
- Observe how team members manage client accounts, address client needs, and proactively solve day-to-day concerns.
- Learn about key compliance issues, such as ERISA guidelines, DOL and IRS audits, vendor platforms, and plan contract transitions.
- Support efforts to promote client retention and enhance client relationships through high-quality service delivery.
Wealth Management Team Responsibilities
- Shadow wealth management team members during client meetings, including retirement readiness sessions and individual financial planning discussions.
- Observe and contribute to the process of identifying potential clients, helping prepare proposals for new business opportunities.
- Learn how to utilize financial planning tools to add value for clients, identify additional opportunities, and help retain relationships.
- Provide support for account administration and maintenance under team guidance, ensuring a seamless client experience.
- Observe how wealth management advisors stay informed of industry developments and offer innovative solutions to enhance client services.
General Responsibilities
- Learn to implement resources and technology effectively to assist team members in resolving client concerns.
- Support the team in maintaining a consistent, high-quality client experience.
- Contribute to projects that aim to strengthen client relationships and promote brand visibility in the marketplace.
- Gain exposure to insurance roles and offerings in partnership with our sister company, Shepherd Insurance.
What We Look For
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance with a specific interest in financial services and/or wealth management or retirement planning
- Anticipated graduation date of December 2026 or Summer 2027
- Excellent active listening skills
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrates a high level of professionalism and a positive attitude with clients and internal team members
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- Prior experience working in an office setting is preferred
- Prior internship and/or relevant financial experience preferred
