POSITION SUMMARY

The Collateral Solutions Manager oversees the bank’s collateral valuation and due diligence processes, including third-party and internal evaluations. This includes ordering and reviewing commercial and residential real estate valuations, environmental reports, business asset appraisals, and internal evaluations. The role also manages residential appraisal review staff and serves as the escalation point for complex issues. Strong knowledge of bank policies, regulatory guidance, and appraisal independence is required.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 Vendor Engagement & Oversight

  • Proactively selects and engages appraisers and environmental specialists.
  • Prepares engagement letters and ensures vendors receive complete and accurate information.
  • Maintains strong communication with vendors to ensure timely delivery and quality standards.

 Due Diligence Review

  • Conducts thorough reviews of third-party reports including:
    • Commercial appraisals
    • Environmental reports
    • Collateral audits
    • Business valuations
    • Equipment appraisals
    • Completes internal evaluations for both residential and commercial properties.

Compliance & Risk Mitigation

  • Ensures all reports meet bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Makes informed recommendations to mitigate environmental and collateral risks.
  • Manages third-party risk requirements for vendors.

Process Management & System Oversight

  • Maintains tracking logs and manages ValuTrac ordering system.
  • Implements process improvements and ensures audit trails are maintained.
  • Reviews and updates due diligence procedures and checklists regularly.

 Training & Support

  • Provides training to credit and lending staff on due diligence policies.
  • Supports various teams including lenders, BBAs, relationship bankers, and mortgage staff.

Leadership & Escalation Management

  • Manages and supports review appraiser staff.
  • Serves as the primary escalation point for complex appraisal and environmental issues.

Strategic Reporting

  • Reports market trends to senior management and Board Committees.
  • Provides data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school degree or GED Required.
  • College degree in business related field preferred.
  • Minnesota and South Dakota Certified Residential or General Appraisal License preferred. Five (5) years of current experience in commercial or residential real estate appraisal.
  • Environmental due diligence experience required.
  • Significant Appraisal or Appraisal Review experience required.
  • Solid skill set in the use of the following software applications: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Fiserv, Sageworks & ValuTrac software beneficial.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Annual salary range DOQ: $74,148 - $105,926 - $137,704
