About the Role

Join the dynamic team at Mark VII, a leader in car wash manufacturing, as a Buyer/Planner. In this critical role, you'll be instrumental in managing the supply chain from end to end. You will be responsible for sourcing and procuring materials, optimizing inventory levels, and planning production schedules to ensure we meet manufacturing goals and maintain high customer satisfaction. This position requires a strategic thinker with a keen eye for detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Purchasing & Procurement

  • Sourcing and Negotiation: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for raw materials and components. Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to ensure optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers. Manage contracts and agreements, and swiftly resolve any issues related to invoicing, delivery, or product quality.

Material Planning & Scheduling

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute material schedules to align with production needs and maintain optimal safety stock levels. Utilize MRP/ERP systems, such as SAP, to accurately forecast material requirements.
  • Data Integrity: Ensure the accuracy of data within inventory systems and maintain the integrity of the Bill of Materials (BOM). Proactively collaborate with internal teams to prevent production disruptions.

Inventory Management

  • Inventory Optimization: Manage inventory to strike a balance between cost efficiency and customer lead times. Minimize obsolete stock and recommend strategic adjustments to reduce business liability.
  • Stock Control: Oversee the return of unused or defective parts and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inventory accuracy and flow.

Forecasting & Demand Planning

  • Demand Analysis: Analyze historical sales data and market trends to create accurate demand forecasts. Evaluate volume requirements against planning assumptions to support business growth and stability.

Logistics & Supplier Coordination

  • Logistics Oversight: Coordinate inbound logistics and manage shipping costs to ensure efficient and timely delivery of materials.
  • Continuous Improvement: Actively support and implement process improvements within the supply chain to enhance efficiency and scalability.

Problem Solving & Process Improvement

  • Issue Resolution: Respond with urgency to material shortages and other production-impacting issues. Develop and implement effective corrective actions and provide training to prevent future recurrence.
  • Workflow Optimization: Review and optimize workflows to improve efficiency and support business growth.

 

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience: A bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. At least 3 years of experience in purchasing and/or materials planning, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expert-level proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Core Competencies: Strong understanding of supply chain principles and their interdependencies. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Methodologies: Experience with Just-in-Time (JIT), Kanban, and Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) systems.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external vendors.
