Job Summary
Under general supervision, guided by the policies and procedures of the department of nursing, and in collaboration with the physician staff, the Clinical Nurse performs established nursing procedures using clinical knowledge to care for patients. They consistently project a professional and courteous demeanor in line with UCSF’s PRIDE standards. The Clinical Nurse shall comply with the Medical Center Communication Standards. Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe therapeutic care.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years of recent clinical inpatient hemodialysis experience
- This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations including Mission Bay, Mount Zion, Parnassus, St. Mary’s and St. Francis Hospitals.
- The motivation to become a participant in a team is dedicated to effective, safe patient care.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and families
Preferred Qualifications
- Apheresis experience
- Specialty certification in nephrology or apheresis (CDN, CNN, CNN-NP, QIA)
- General computer literacy and basic familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), Epic EMR
License/Certification
- Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
- Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
- Current American Heart Association PALS or ACLS Certification (career staff)
- Telemetry certification or successful completion of an exam in interpreting cardiac rhythms upon hire
