POSITION SUMMARY: The Camera Technical Assistant supports safety and student management for scholars who ride school buses equipped with video cameras. This position is responsible for assisting the Camera Technician in the installation, operation, configuration and maintenance of school bus video hardware. This includes, but is not limited to, cleaning and checking camera operational status, equipment updates, adjustment of camera position, calibrating specific camera components, disassembling and repairing mechanical parts and instructing camera operators of proper care and use.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. Install, repair, test, maintain and troubleshooting of all camera equipment
Provide customer service and represent Transportation in a professional manner
Read and comprehend manuals
Installing/Pulling cable
Mounting camera heads devices, computers, power supplies
Programming, set-up, testing systems
Testing and inspections
Must maintain confidentiality at all times

Other Responsibilities

Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills on camera and video technology
All other duties as assigned within your qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
2 years of experience installing, troubleshooting and maintaining security cameras

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Technical certification in Electronics or related field

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
Criminal background clearance
Work scheduled hours on a consistent basis
Valid Washington State Driver’s License
Post-hire, pre-employment physical

KNOWLEDGE OF:
Electronic and Mechanical camera and video processes
Operational and technical aspects of video cameras and systems
Camera codes and standards

ABILITY TO:
Demonstrate basic knowledge of technology and willingness and ability to increase knowledge to proficiency
Follow directions through maps, diagrams, manuals and instruction
Work well under pressure and communicate concisely with individuals via the telephone, in written document or face to face
Work alone, as needed, or with supervision
Protect confidentiality of District information
Follow written and oral directions and instructions
Maintain excellent customer service skills
Establish and maintain a cooperative and effective working relationship with community, staff, students, co-workers and supervisors
Plan, organize and prioritize the use of time and resources in an efficient and effective manner
Maintain accurate records and logs

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly stand and walk, bend neck and back, use hands for holding, repetitive grasping and pushing/pulling. The employee will frequently be required to sit for extended periods of time and use a computer screen and keyboard. The employee may occasionally be required to squat, stoop, kneel, and use hands for fine manipulation, climb stairs/ladder, lift and reach overhead, and lift/carry. Position requires hearing, speaking. The employee must constantly lift/carry up to 10 pounds and must frequently lift /carry up to 25 pounds. The employee will occasionally lift/carry a maximum of 40 lbs. The employee is occasionally required to push/pull a maximum weight of 100 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in indoor and outdoor conditions. This position regularly works near video display; reading and watching a monitor, writing and keyboarding. Required to work outdoors in what may at times be extreme weather conditions including hot, cold, wet, windy, dirty, and snowy or frozen conditions. Position will consistently be required to work from high places such as ceilings, ladders, as well as from small spaces and other limited spaces. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
WORK SCHEDULE
This position typically works, 2 hours per day, Monday through Friday, 180 days per year

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to, and is evaluated by Transportation Manager.

LEVEL OF COMPENSATION
Level B on the Prof-Tech Salary Schedule. This position includes benefits prorated based on FTE to include: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, sick and vacation, and retirement
