General Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Director, Community Outreach, and in accordance with established procedures, the Public Health Coordinator I (PHC I) will increase awareness of and commitment to the organ and tissue donor program in Infinite Legacy's donor service area. The primary focus will be on outreach to marginalized communities. The PHC I play a pivotal role in developing and leading comprehensive community-health equity initiatives, data trends and analysis, addressing health disparities within the community and actively engaging internal and external stakeholders.

The Public Health Coordinator is responsible for increasing donor designation rates and creating, implementing, and evaluating activities related to promoting organ and tissue donation in Infinite Legacy service area. The PHI I will be responsible for developing and implementing impactful public health education programs, fostering community partnerships, and advocating for policies that support donation. The Public Health Coordinator will work closely with the other members of the Community Outreach department and Donate Life DC, Maryland, and Virginia to promote the Maryland Donor Registry and provide education and awareness of the need for organ, eye and tissue donors locally and nationally.

 

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in public health, community health, or a related field is preferred.
  1. Experience in public health coordination, community outreach, or related roles.
  1. Strong understanding of organ, eye, and tissue donation concepts and related health issues.
  1. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in public outreach, communications or a similar area involving program development, coordination, implementation and evaluation required. 3 – 4 years of experience preferred. 
  1. Strong written and oral communications skills and the ability to establish and maintain rapport and positive relationships with volunteer workers and community partners.
  1. Ability to work and set priorities in a team and collaborative environment.

  • Experienced presenting in public settings to diverse groups of individuals.
  • Self-disciplined, self-starter, and able to work independently.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively build relationships with individuals of all ages, ethnicities, gender identities, education levels, and work experiences
  • Ability to effectively engage with internal staff and external agencies
  • Must be able to operate a vehicle for travel expectations within the community
  • Understands and maintains confidentiality and all regulations regarding HIPAA 
  • Exhibits professionalism, a friendly demeanor, and is a positive representative of Infinite Legacy over the phone and in person
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak to a variety of audiences using a variety of platforms
  • Proficient technology skills including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and data management systems.
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and projects
  • Reliable, ethical, and honest work ethic

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Under the direction of the Director, Community Outreach, the PHC I develops and implements public health education programs to inform the community about the importance of organ, eye, and tissue donation.
  1. Organizes and participates in community events, workshops, and health fairs to engage with the public and address questions related to organ donation.
  1. Advocates for policies and initiatives that support organ, eye, and tissue donation within the community.
  1. Collects, analyzes, and reports on relevant public health data to assess the effectiveness of outreach programs and identify areas for improvement.

  1. Implements data collection methodologies, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant regulations.
  1. Utilizes statistical tools and methods to interpret complex datasets and generate actionable insights.
  1. Develops and maintains comprehensive databases to track outreach efforts, community engagement, and donor designations.
  1. Works closely with internal teams, including business intelligence, business development, and quality to ensure a cohesive and impactful outreach strategy.
  1. Collaborates with internal stakeholders to create regular reports, presenting key findings and trends to inform strategic decision-making.
  2. Stays abreast of industry trends, research studies and advancements in public health to incorporate relevant insights into data analysis.
  1. Prepares and presents detailed reports for internal and external audiences, including regulatory bodies, showcasing the impact and success of community outreach initiatives.
  1. Collaborates with external partners and research institutions for data sharing and collaborative analysis to strengthen the evidence base supporting organ, eye, and tissue donation.
  1. Effectively communicates the mission and goals of Infinite Legacy to diverse audiences.
