About the Department
The position offers a Full-time temporary schedule as follows:
- Tuesday - Saturday, 4:00 pm - 12:00 am (November 2025 - February 2026)
- Friday - Tuesday, 12 am - 8:00 am (February 2026 - April 2026)

Position Duties
Provision of Security Services:
- Follow written and oral instructions; respond to emergencies and employ effective courses of action which includes summoning first responders.
- Patrol campus buildings and property in security vehicle and on foot to enforce college policy, rules, regulations and applicable local, state, and federal statutes.
- Observe and detect suspicious situations; protect life and property
- Inspect college buildings and grounds for prowlers, suspicious activity, fire, property damage, safety hazards, and security of doors, windows, buildings and vehicles.
- Operate security equipment including portable, mobile, and base radios, security vehicles, computers, and telephones, expandable baton, handcuffs, OC (pepper) spray, flashlights, physical and electronic keys and key cars.
- Issue timely warnings and emergency alert messages by telephone and computer.
Building Security, Access, and Control:
- Lock and unlock campus buildings and rooms according to scheduled college hours
- Lock and unlock campus buildings, rooms, and classroom areas for faculty and staff.
- Assist in making keys and access card control
- Note secure/unsecured status of rooms, areas, buildings
- Assist in building evacuation during an emergency
Public Service and Motorist Assists:
- Communicate regularly with staff, students and general public on safety and security matters
- Provide medical aid
- Assist community members in the recording and return of lost and found property.
- Assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors with vehicle lock outs, jump starts, tire changes, or towing.
- Provide safety escorts for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Prepares written reports on security incidents and notifies executive team when necessary; general data and records management:
- Assume command and facilitate the flow of information during critical incidents
- Review daily activity log for security activity and ensure timeliness of security public crime log
- Create, enter, forward incident reports for criminal and non-criminal offenses.
- Enter work orders for safety, health, maintenance, grounds, or custodial issues.
Incident Coordination and Incident Command:
- Coordinate incident response and activities of and with city, county, and state emergency responders to campus incidents.
- Participate in campus Incident Management training, exercise, and response.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School graduation or equivalent
- Possession of a valid driver's license
- Two years of work experience as a campus police or security officer OR equivalent education.
- Knowledge of due process, use of force, WAC, RCW, FERPA and CLERY and security department standing operating procedures
- Knowledge of keying systems, access control, and building security systems
- Knowledge of computers and software applications, specifically MS Office suite: Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Knowledge of general safety precautions and fire hazards; fire alarm panel operation; first aid; report preparation and writing; law enforcement basics including use of force law; defensive tactics; officer safety, traffic control, interviewing, investigation procedures, evidence protection and preservation
- Collaborative -- The ability to work in culturally diverse groups toward a common goal by involving, including and valuing others.
- Empathy -- The ability and willingness to attempt to understand another person's culture or perspective through listening and inquiry.
