As a Marketing Manager, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people in San Antonio. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Work with local media partners to leverage and execute media buys while implementing added value and trade opportunities to support and enhance all marketing campaigns.
  • Assist in creative development for paid digital, paid social media, and traditional advertising campaigns to drive attendance and revenue.
  • Manage the organization's responsive website to drive site traffic and online sales, enhance user experience, execute SEO and SEM strategies, and continually optimize site content.
  • Maintain owned databases, identify target audiences, and grow databases.
  • Create targeted email campaigns for general subscribers, Members, development partners, education prospects, overnight guests, and other segmented lists.
  • Manage Marketing Coordinators, Marketing Specialists, and Marketing Interns. Set priorities, goals, and action items for their work; inspire, train and empower to execute and own their projects.
  • Assist in managing the development of in-park promotional material and signage for marketing campaigns, donation campaigns, and consumer events.
  • Lead and review all content, collateral, and creative to ensure content is always on-brand.
  • Monitor and analyze marketing metrics to measure the organization’s attendance, revenue, promotions, web sales, and email performance. Adjust strategies as needed.
  • Assist with offsite activations and community events to promote the zoo, including driving Zoo-branded vehicles, setting up promotional displays, and engaging directly with the public to increase visibility and attendance.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure all marketing initiatives are aligned with business objectives.
  • Establish and maintain positive, cooperative, respectful, and effective working relationships with fellow Zoo Crew team members.
  • Constantly exhibit a guest service attitude, a smile, and an obvious interest in guest comfort and service.


Your Skills and Expertise 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, the San Antonio Zoo recommends the following skills/qualifications:

  • Must have at least five (5) years of marketing experience.
  • Two (2) years management and/or supervisor experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or a related business field required.
  • Preferred experience in tourism, hospitality, or ticketed attractions.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to adapt communication style to a number of different audiences.
  • Possess strong knowledge of cloud-based content management systems.
  • Proficient in web design (preferably in WordPress), including SEO and SEM strategies. Google Certified is a plus.
  • Demonstrated success in the execution of digital advertising campaigns.
  • Must have a creative eye and be able to effectively communicate creative direction for various advertising and marketing assets including digital, social, television, radio, signage, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple projects with both internal and external clients.
  • Must be enthusiastic in a demanding and fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and occasional after-hour assignments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and operating office equipment.
                  • Must be willing to learn new software as required.
