****Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University of Hawai’i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative professional and technical(APT) or Instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees, such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees and up to one calendar year for part-time employees.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The research assistant will investigate the biochemistry of aptamers and 2D materials for the VRAS project. The RA will fabricate electrodes, conduct experiments, and set up equipment in the lab to enable the SELEX process.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Current undergraduate in biochemistry or a closely related field.
  • Three-month experience with the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy technique.
  • Three months of experience working with aptamers.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Coursework in DNA biochemistry.
